Im sure I'm not the only one who believes that the overall ultimate success of this team depends on the performance of CJ Fair more than many would initially believe.

I see a guy who has developed a very nice long distance game to complement his already solid mid range and inside game. However I fear that he might be miscast at this time. We are already seeing him spending a large percentage of his offensive opportunities underneath the basket in an attempt to pick up garbage. He has been getting his shot blocked at a Paul Harrisish rate recently.

His game is much more dynamic than his current role is dictating. This guy should have sets run for him. He should be one of the focal points of the offense right now. He should at least get a touch on nearly every half court possession. He is a good shooter, passer, and has a nose for the ball.

I dont see this team making a deep run unless this kid gets used properly...hopefully sooner rather than later.

CJ is being used properly right now. He's the team's best offensive rebounder, and gets his points that way.

He's still only 7 games into his sophomore season. Plenty of time for him to continue to grow...and he will continue to grow.

If you watched the two games at MSG, you realized that CJ is one of the top 4 players on this team, and will always be in the game during crunch time. He has a key role with this team and is fulfilling it at this time.

He can fight JSouth to takeover KJo's role next year as go-to forward.

A couple of points here --

CJ is being used more against the better teams when they play man to man. Against a zone, you will see more of Southerland. JB knows what he is doing.

JB is also giving Christmas some opportunities to develop. Last night against a weak team was the perfect opportunity. Next year (and not considering who leaves early or where Coleman fits), CJ starts as the 3, Christmas at the 4 -- Southerland as the zone buster.
