CJ Returns: Official Anouncement

Syracuse director of athletics Dr. Daryl Gross. "We are confident his continued progress will allow him to become the nation's top player and a viable candidate for the Naismith, Rupp, Wooden awards and other All-American honors. We look forward to him leading our team as we enter the ACC. We all feel that his senior season will be remarkable."

WoW!

Wow, late teens to mid 2nd? That's quite a wide range. I guess the takeaway from that is no one really has any clue how the draft will go. If that's really the feedback he got, then it certainly seems that he made the right decision coming back. To me, it never seemed like there was a good reason for him to leave. That's not to say there weren't factors I didn't consider that could have swayed his decision. Just that from a standpoint of simply where he'd likely be drafted, it never seemed to me that he'd end up leaving.

Reread your original post. You were off base and wrong.

Along this topic, does anyone think that Cooney could possibly start at the 2 with Silent G coming off the bench? It could be a nice way to keep Cooney's confidence up, see if he can get in a rhythm early on, and then use Gbinije as the "Dion" off the bench.
he is the presumptive starter as of now . . .

I basically said if he left, I'd have assumed it was for reasons other than his draft position. Regardless, that's what I meant. And I don't think I'm wrong, unless he had received some really bad advice.

IF HE GETS 75 LIKES, HE IS BUYING EVERYONE ON THE BOARD A TACO!

Thanks everyone for liking my post... but TACOTIME needs more likes.

I want a taco!!!

Is that your projected starting 5? There's no way Cooney starts. Gbinije at the 2.

No way?? Ok.

bees if you have roberson starting does that mean you think or know christmas is gone?

They play different positions and their games are worlds different. Roberson is a 3/4. Rak is a 5.

roberson is going to start over grant?
cooney over gbinje?

those both seem to be stretches to me. the smart money would be on the opposite.

heck... even coleman is a question mark. no matter what any insider says... i would be beyond shocked if anyone knew who the starting 5 was other than fair and 99% ennis.

anyone includes our head coach and our next head coach who is not the head coach at USC.

None of us knows. But I bet the coaches have an idea although they probably aren't 100% either.

And what does USC have to do with it?

Wonder if rak can play pf on d and center on offense. With Coleman playing pf on offense and center on defense.

Yeah could point regardless of rak. I would think grant would have huge edge on Roberson at the 4 going into camp

Ennis
Cooney
Grant
CJ
Rak

or

Ennis
Cooney

Rak
Coleman

Really tough predicament for rak, Baye and DC2.

Problem is if one of them explodes they deserve around 25-30 minutes.
No question if they didn't care about minutes we would be better with Rak. Hes our best physical defensive center.

Alot depends on Raks ability to play the four for most of his minutes next year because that is what he would have to do I think . I think we could press alot next year which would play to Bayes strength. Especially if Dajuan, Cooney, Ennis, Grant, Roberson, Patterson , BJ can score while Gbinije and Fair spare a rest after pressing.

Gbinije was a all american Cooney wasn't. JB usually goes to town with that. But cooney does have more experience and that also matters to JB.

JB's team is so deep this year he can start a different guard/forward/center and bring a different one off the bench based on matchups alone. Or he can do things like bring his shooters vs. dribble attackers or press more off the bench based on what he thinks is best. Usually he just goes with his best players but this year is as good as any to be different.

I can see Cooney, Dajuan, Grant, Ennis, Patterson, all being solid 3rd scoring options. And thats leaving out BJ, and Roberson who I also think can be. BJ for example you can't leave the guy open.

loaded and loving it!

Hmmm, I would wager we'll have the same 7.5-8 man rotation once Conference play starts. Every year it's suggested that JB will switch it up and go to a deeper bench, and every year we have starters playing 35-38 mins and the 7.5 rotation in full effect.
