Clark vs Reese equivalent to Bird vs Magic

I usually like Ryan but it was clownish the way he had a full on stroke when Reese sprained her ankle. I thought a bomb was discovered in the arena.

“Oh my God! Oh No no no no no. This can’t be!!”

Reese checks back in 3 minutes later
Yeah I had the feeling she'd back in a few minutes. Bit of a drama queen - both of them. :)

I’m thinking more about this…I think women’s college basketball is poised for big growth. Players are likely to stick around for four years to build a reputation and following, unlike the men’s game. Quality of play is solid, games are entertaining. I think that’ll continue to grow regardless - but this year was a huge boost.

I’m not sure we’ll ever see a Bird-Magic thing again, that was lightning in a bottle where a whole lot the players didn’t influence led to the rivalry having such an impact. But we should be able to tell from WNBA attendance and viewership if they increase interest in that league fairly quickly. Honestly I thought Sue Bird would have a bigger impact than she did (outside of Seattle), so I have no idea what to expect here.
I'm sure there will be growth but how much of the current excitement is sustainable without Clark? The ratings on her games are off the charts while the others? Not so much.

If it’s the name you found bothersome, they’ll all change to Maverick this year. If it’s that they’re everywhere, that seems to be a Midwest thing - I don’t think I was ever out of sight of a Kwik Trip sign the entire time I lived in Wisconsin.
Yes. The name was just crude.

Ehh Reese was really really limited after the injury.

If you were in person at the game, anytime the game wasn’t going on she was incredibly hobbled and barely putting any weight on that ankle.

I think they would have actually been better off without an injured Reese on the floor.

It was sad to see

Girls just wanna have fun.

Caitlyn Clark making history.

First-ever rookie triple-double in WNBA history.

Franchise first ever triple-double.

And Reese is a double-double machine.
Only the 2nd player in WNBA history to record 12 straight double-doubles.

These ladies are fire.

I can’t watch non Celtics NBA regular season games but every WNBA game is excellent and I keep them on my second tv always. Been a fan for years but this year absolutely watching more closely.

It sucks so much connectucut has a ducking team and Boston doesn’t my wife is from Africa and played in college and is hoop obsessed I wish we had a team and we could buy some nice season tickets and go to all the games.

Watched a healthy chunk of the game last night. Caitlin was great, and could have 5 more assists if her teammates could finish consistently.

Some of her assists are dazzling. Would love to play with her.

It takes time for teammates to acclimate to passers. The center on our team used to laugh saying she developed good “hands” only in self defense after earning a permanent tattoo of Wilson on her forehead.

I can't give Reese full props until she learns to hit layups

I just can't

Her shooting is atrocious

She has adjusted to her poor shooting by becoming an elite rebounder, which she gets credit for

But the shooting percentage within ten feet is comical

Many ways to compare their impact. I guess I’d look at the effect their addition has done for their team’s success.

Last year the Fever was 10th in the final standings with 13 wins for the season. To date this year the Fever is 7th in standings and have already equaled their 2023 wins with 13 and 12 games remaining.

Reese’s Chicago team had 18 wins last year and currently has 11 wins to date with 13 games remaining and are 8th right behind the Fever’s 7th team standing. It appears to me that Clark has made her teammates and team as a whole better so far. Personally, Clark’s passing to me is her greatest asset which has impacted the tempo and unselfishness of her team in sharing the ball and their fast break effectiveness. Her teammate, Boston has really improved from last year playing with Clark.

Both Reese and Clark are young, extremely talented and should continue developing and expanding their game. Hopefully injuries etc don’t derail either player’s impact.

I haven’t seen many Chicago Sky games. Does Reese’s and Cardosa’s game compliment or impede each other at all - anyone notice? Cardosa plays about 4 minutes less per game, shoots a much better shooting % (50% vs 40% from 2) but shoots a worse FT%, is fouled less and on the other hand, commits fouls about the same rate as Reese. Just wondering how they both work together down low.

Fever are over .500 for the first time in 5 years. Think it's safe to say Caitlin has lived up to the hype.
That team has improved its transition game and shares the ball so much better since her addition. She has helped make her teammates better players. I do hope that she cuts down on her turnovers and gets rid of the ball quicker when swarmed. They need some better out of bounds plays from the sidelines. She had some dime passes missed by teammates but conversely she had some sloppy turnovers. Amazing year and basketball IQ especially for a rookie though.

I rank her as 1B, just behind behind Steph, as the most exciting players in basketball.
I really enjoy watching her. She has a little bit od Jason “White Chocolate” Williams in her floor game.

Fever had virtually same roster last year. Including Mitchell. Last place. CC has made the whole team better. And has made an afterthought league something worth watching. Molly and Monica on the world wide leader grit their teeth when saying her name …. They are missing the “joy”. LOL.
