Clemson players on the Syracuse zone: "It was real easy to get the ball moving and get everybody shots."

No idea who he is or why he is yelling in twitter. According to him why is this fan base Insane?

It didn’t help any but did anyone notice we went to a 1-3-1 for about 5 mins in the 2nd half?
Yeah, with Joe in the middle. Pretty much just a last resort once the 2-3 and press didn’t work lol

This is the guy he publicly refers to himself on his Twitter fyi. Didn't even know this blog ever existed. Pretty sure I remember this dude from games and well the shoe fits. He was a year ahead of me.

At least you noticed it. It kept them from the easy pass to the middle but didn’t help any with making 3’s.

He has a problem with the insanity of the miserable ***s of our fanbase and I have a problem with the basketball program deteriorating to the point where we aren't even a laughingstock just nobody outside of our fanbase thinks about Syracuse anymore. Unless our coach says something dumb after a game.

I want to reply to him soooo bad but people like that have already mastered arguing around the obvious truth. Must be nice to be able to twist your own mind like that.

He's an attorney trying to litigate how fans engage on message boards... by complaining on twitter. Sounds like someone has one too many paralegals and free time.

I agree that playing the zone 100% of the time is an antiquated defense against today's basketball. But the bigger problem is the personnel playing the defense. If we had better talent, like the guys from the 2010, 2012, 2013 teams the defense would look a whole lot better than what we see this year or in recent years. JB just isn't bringing in that level of talent anymore.

Jesse is not a good defender. He'll block some shots with length, but he's always out of position, getting bodied out of the way or late to react in the paint. Again, the bad D up top makes his job tougher, but he's not a classic zone center.
I don't agree with this. Jesse is a very good defender who is tasked with waaaaaay too much responsibility on the defensive end. He could be bigger & stronger, but he does a lot with what he has. He's basically on an island on defense and is among the best in the ACC (SU players highlighted):

You may have noticed but the past several games, maybe more, Jesse doesn’t go to the corner much. Maybe once or twice a game. We changed the rotations.

Both have not worked well, could be argued that we were doing better with Jesse flying corner to corner.

I’m ok with the zone, as long as we play it 50% of the time or less.

I agree he's not a bad shot blocker and there's a reason he gets so many opportunities to do so (well, a number of reasons). Become a good rebounder this year too. But he's not super instinctive or fast reacting when the ball gets in the paint. Again, the crud around him isn't helping him, so it's truly hard to quantify success vs failure here, but I can't consider him a good defender based on what I've seen. We've seen so many guys go through him, around him or just use the vacant space in front of him. At least he's done a much better job of not fouling this year, with 1 fewer per game while playing more minutes.

Wish we had another year of him.

Yep. It seems like since 2009-ish Syracuse can have a talented PF/SF or a talented C, but not both at the same time. Like put Jesse on a team instead of Lydon or Marek at the 5, and it would change the outlook.

At the end of the day, IMO, it's the system more than the players, but I don't think I'd want these same players as a M2M unit because they were recruited to play JAB's zone.
