Clemson Postgame Party Thread

You're correct because you use the present tense. Angeli is composed - poised - but that wasn't true the first 3 quarters against UT. Issues against UConn, too. He looked like McCord today, and my point is that I expect the coaches will get that same poise out of Collins. His warts are there, yes, but so too were Angeli's. I'm pretty excited to see the improvement after lots of reps with the first team.
Mine isn't a Rickie vs. Steve discussion. That was over after Fall camp.
He freakin led the nation in passing.....Ricki Collins was 3 for 8 and even his 3 completions weren't accurate passes. The talent difference between the two is quite stark right now. Anything otherwise is trying to make your self feel better through self deception.

I’ve seen us beat Miami and Clemson in less than the span of a year. Unbelievable. We’re only in Fran’s second year and he’s got us executing at such a high level.

Developing Collins is his next challenge but Frans given us so much reason to believe

To add to the Fran effect: the coaching staff has been working with Collins and Carney since they showed up on campus. This staff coaches up the players. Both QBs have talent or they would not be at SU. Neither has significant game experience. Even Angeli needed some game experience before he settled in to the role as starter. The staff will prepare the QBs and as they gain experience we will discover what the staff has been doing. Why should we believe differently?

He’s the most authentic coach in football today. A lot of its bravado but it’s real.

It’s funny to call it real bravado but that’s exactly what it is. I’ve met so many coaches over the decades and there’s tons that have just created their persona. And I don’t say that in a negative way, that’s what they’ve done to be successful in their field. I’ve done the same thing. But Frans personality is truly who he is, he’s just a very authentic guy.

I don’t know if any of that made sense but it does to me. Lol

Chris Peal has been tremendous the past couple weeks. Seems like he and Samuel could make for a lethal corner duo
Yup they both have shutdown corner potential. Peal is very close to that now. Peal only a sophomore too and Samuel a freshman….dangerous with Kerr as a 3 third/nickel corner too. That’s a really good corner room.

Also I want to shoutout Braheem Long. I think he had been VERY solid this year. He had the boneheaded taunting play yesterday which really wasn’t that bad tbh. But made a great play before the taunting. He has been REALLY good this year. He’s fast, a solid tackler, seems to always be in position. I am more than okay seeing him take over a starting Saftey spot next

Archie manning taunted far worse than what Braheem did and guess whether Archie got a taunting penalty or not……

Javon strikes again with his question about how Grant compares to Kyle Hamilton from the Ravens. They really need to upgrade the reporters at Syr.com
During post game one of the reporters asked Fran what he messaged to Angeli in what sounded like a pull aside conversation. Frans response "It was personal and I am not telling you that." I like that. Not everything is owed to a reporter or the public.

Talk about self-deception . . .
Crowing about leading the nation in passing by posting 800+ yards against UConn & Colgate (at home) is pretty lame. Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled he put the numbers up, but I'm not foolish enough to puff out my chest for that illusion.
Now compare Angeli's first game (274 yards, 1 TD, 1 into, -27 yds rushing) with his abbreviated and best game (18/34 for 244 with 2 TDs). Angeli was magic out there yesterday. Not perfect, but better. Even more poised. In his earlier games he also threw a wobbly pass here and there. How many highlight catches did Ross-Simmons and Daryl Gill have when Angeli threw not-so-perfect passes.
For some reason, you still want to denigrate Collins's ability. I believe the coaches have a lot to do with the success of our QBs. If you open your eyes, you'll see there is also a "stark difference" between early Angeli and yesterday's version. That's talent and coaching.
Two 4 star QBs, two top level programs, LSU & ND. You may think HCFB was blowing smoke up our a$$es when he called their competition 51-49 in early August, but I take that man at his word.
Of course, you know better 🙄

Exactly why I thought that people who were happy with 5 to 7 wins this season were undervaluing what Fran is doing.

The team’s tackling yesterday was top notch. Something to really be proud of…..I am honestly having a hard time remembering a play with Clemson gaining significant YAC as a result of a missed tackle.

That issue alone could have played a significant role in the outcome against The Vols. Just a strong performance in all three phases and a great win for the program. LGO!

For the Fran and SEC talk, there’s just no way unless UGA. I lived in North Florida in Gator country, that’s a different breed down there and those boosters want someone they can control and lean on. That ain’t Fran. The fans may want it but that’s not happening

UF. It's basically America.
