Clemson Postgame thoughts...

Still don't understand how they put 32 seconds on the clock then huddled and went down to 26 on that last drive. 6 seconds is pretty big. It also pretty much gave the D a free time out.
.
I'm also not sure why we ran the play there.

Seemed an ideal time to spike it and catch your breath and not have to worry about the running clock for a play.

I think Dino’s thinking on letting the clock run was to make sure they were kicking a field goal. I’m not sure why, but I think he was afraid they might go for it. It just doesn’t make any sense.

He is awful with time management. Calling a TO doesn't change Dabo's call there. Clock stops on a failed 4th down.

I loved how we played in the first half. I did not like how we played in the second half. Too many designed QB runs that never went anywhere. But the team showed heart and grit. It is going to be a fun rest of the season. Just remember, Clemson comes to us next year ;)
I’m not sure we play them next year with the new sschedule.

We had a chance to be legitimately in the hunt for a national championship and we gave it away.

Sorry. I need a day before I can fall back on "the great season we are having". I can't turn the page that quickly. These chances don't come around that often.

Agreed on many levels...but I want to add think we can all hammer the play calls and the clock mgmt or whatever and still appreciate that we were in a game that was the center of attention in college football at a national level for good portion of this afternoon.

I can honestly say I never expected us to be there again. For that, Dino and Anae get a long leash from me as far as overall picture for the program

Depends on who wins behind us. I’m thinking about 18
I don't think that's going to matter as much as it should. The reality is we took the #5 team to the wire in their house, we really shouldn't budge at all, but that's not how it works. They're going to say, "See? Syracuse isn't legit, they finally played a real team and lost," and move us behind all the teams that they reasonably can that were ranked pre-season and such.

I actually thought the same thing as well. Let’s give Dino the benefit of the doubt on that call. Cuse had a chance to win despite a lot of questionable officiating

Mang and Hoeh are completely useless out there. That being said there were at least 3-4 plays where they had pass rushers one on one as our T was blocking no one.

The lack of a pass catching TE and any sort of Wr help beyond Gadsen will kill this team every single time. You can't have a starting wr with 6 catches all year playing 90% of the snaps, that's Aemy or Navy level stats

We didn't play our best game possible, were on the wrong end of some very questionable calls as well as some terrible coaching decisions, and still took Clemson to the wire in Death Valley...

And the fans of the #5 team in the country stormed the field for beating Syracuse. I know they set the conference record for home winning streaks, too, but still.

Clemson-Syracuse is turning into an honest-to-God football rivalry. Let's win 10 games, get to a good bowl game, build momentum and take it into next season, and continue to make the case that we belong in a big boy conference when the dust settles so that Dino and company can keep building this program.
They storm the field after winning every home game

So how far do we drop in the rankings? Somewhere in the #20 to #23 range?
I think not much. We took a top 5 team to the wire on their turf. We showed the college football world we aren't there by luck. Everyone who saw this game knows we should have won it.

I thought that about Dee Brown when he lost a fumble once.

Brown never fumbled for the rest of his SU career, and did pretty good.
I’m just really emotional and frustrated right now.

So wake dropped from 21 to 22. So with people behind us winning I’m thinking 16-17

No matter what Fuentes does for the rest of his career here, he can’t make up for what he cost us.
It was a huge play and it turned the game.
But did anyone notice that Fuentes got pushed by a Clemson OLineman? I think that nudge did not allow him to stop his momentum.
