I don’t like the call b/c you’re determining intent when it’s not obvious. Was he trying to hit him with his shoulder and he turns towards his helmet. However he went straight forward with his face mask facing the ground in a spearing motion. So I get why the call is made but the refs also had to determine intent when it wasn’t obvious or clear and so the call shouldn’t have been made. IMO.

Didn't see another camera angle but it looked to me like his helmet was on the other side of the body and the contact was with the shoulder. Couldn't tell for sure without a camera angle on the other side of the field.

Like I said, I’m sure it’s because of the concern that the player will throw his helmet back on slapdash, and then get popped in the head on the next play.

It's to make sure guys get their helmets back on the way they are supposed to be instead of hurrying to get them back on before the next play. Not that hard to understand.

It sure looked like Skalski hit him with his shoulder. His head was down but he didn’t appear to spear him with his head.

He also went down to tackle him by the legs. Those plays are impossible for the defender

Not sure when the last time you put a helmet on was, but you can easily loosen the chin straps so it slides on and off easier.

Ohio State can be mad all they want. It seems to be working, but it’s a joke they got in with a 6 game schedule.

Watching Etienne all I can think of is the drive to win it vs. us in 2018 down in Clemson. If we just were able to stop him, we win. And Brice converts that 4th down. We were so close to knocking them off down there. Oh, the memories, Seems like a million years ago.

I think what bpo is saying is not about society but rather about the fairness of being forced out of the game because of something your opponent did to you or could choose to do to you at any moment of the game to get a key player off the field and could thereby gain an advantage.
