from a lot of supporters on this board. Imagine what it will be like if this year plays out like some fear it will. I'm guessing that Gross will be reluctant to extend his contract, but also concerned about recruits who will go elsewhere if a change is made. I have a feeling that by the end of the year, fans are going to be screaming for Doug's head.

With few exceptions, the people on this board are not movers and shakers. For the most part they are like the fans in front of the TV.

And the movers and shakers like losing? They get more crap from friends than we do. Their patience is not much greater than others.

You missed my point. The OP was referencing this board, not all the powerful alumni, and neither him nor I know how they feel. Like losing? Who does? But this thread is about support for Marone. It's funny to me how many people put the season in the trash when it is still young. The predictions ranged from 5-8 wins, with most having us sneaking into a bowl. That is far from out of the question.

My point is that if the coach loses support on this board, which is fairly representative of the fan base, the same is proabably true of the so-called movers and shakers.

With respect to the season predictions, most had us beating NW and MN. So with those results in, two of the forecasted wins are now in the books as losses. The other consensus wins were Pitt, Rutgers, Temple and UCONN. We have eight games left and need to win 5 to get to 6-6.

Nothing is ever out of the question, but realistically, we can't play with Rutgers, Louisville or Mizzou, which means that we have to win the rest - Temple, UCONN, Pitt, Cincy and USF. Yes, they all suck but so do we. Remember, our record in conference has been pathetic so it is more likely that we lose them all rather than win them all.

If we took the predictions now, I doubt the consensus would be better than 3 or 4 wins for the season.

I take no pleasure in any of this but the reality is creeping up our butts real quickly. We are not ready for prime time yet. Doug might be Moses and never see the promised land - would be a shame but life is not always fair.

I think optimism and pessimism (opinions) change quicker and more often on this board than a well tended 4 month old's diaper.

Your breakdown of the BE schedule and the likely outcome is spot on, really sobering to read that.

Which would be more fun at this point than SU football.
