No former players.Who should JW realistically look at?
Probably looking hard at mid major HCs is my guess. Too risky to take an assistant and too cheap to lure away a big name coach.

From wikipedia:I like Bryan Hodgson.
Born and raised in Western New York.
Was Nate Oats assistant at Buffalo and Alabama.
Was lead recruiter for Alabama and brought in some great recruits.
Now he is HC at Arkansas State. Has them turned around after being awful. They beat Memphis this season.
He signed a month ago. The only way he can go to another school is if Autry is canned end of this year.I admire the optimism, but unless things improve significantly by the end of the season, I don't see him anywhere but USC next fall.
So you think they will open checkbook for NIL but wouldn't to hire proven coach to help their son?Well dude he's already committed. That's why we need to keep the Anthony's close to home and not be shipping their NIL $'s to USC. I don't get what you're trying to say. I'm saying it's LaLa' baby boy she is going to open the checkbook.
Letter of intent doesn't have the power that it used to. Even if it did, do you think SU wouldn't grant the release from it and face that PR battle? He signed a month ago. The only way he can go to another school is if Autry is canned end of this year.
Who are you installing tomorrow Mr ASAP? You got the buyout money ready plus the money needed for a legit contender coach?
You think Melo wants to be that guy that picks his sons coaches? What kind helicopter parenting is that.So you think they will open checkbook for NIL but wouldn't to hire proven coach to help their son?
Show me one example of a player breaking their letter of intent and going to a different team because the team was bad and I'll believe you.Letter of intent doesn't have the power that it used to. Even if it did, do you think SU wouldn't grant the release from it and face that PR battle?
I see him as being gone regardless of what happens to Red unless the team significantly improves.
Don’t most donors just want to win? Isn’t that the point? We need someone outside the program to exercise the demons of the past decade plus.
I do not think our program is strong enough to move on from the JB era. Too many donors are JB over everything and this has now transferred to Red. Too many donors would lose strong connections to the program by “going outside the family.” They fear having less knowledge and influence over the program. JB built connections over 5 decades and those connections fear what happens next,
I think Red gets 1 or 2 more years.
Not the same thing as a regular joe. He brought us a championship, has his name on basketball facility & is famous and rich alum. I know he doesnt want his son playing for losing team and not getting any looks at the next levelYou think Melo wants to be that guy that picks his sons coaches? Only one point. In the world of portal, his commit and signing NLI don't really mean anything and if things get really bad and Carmelo's kid wanted to back out, SU would probably let him or the kid could just portal.Well dude he's already committed. saying the same thing as my original post. Somehow the replies twisted it the other direction. Not the same thing as a regular joe. St Johns got PitinoNo one outside of the SEC and some Big 10 schools are getting a big name. That goes for UNC too. Heck UK had to settle on their 4th or 5th choice this offseason. That said Langel probably would have us with a lot better of a record with the same talent we have this year.
Georgetown is terrible. Cooley is about on par with Red after two years.St Johns got Pitino
Gtown Ed Cooley
I'd consider those big hires outside of SEC
I assume, since you are posting here, that you are perfectly capable of finding this information.Show me one example of a player breaking their letter of intent and going to a different team because the team was bad and I'll believe you.
As someone who was a JB critic at the end I wanted this program burned to the ground and completely rebooted.Bottom Line Red is bad. We hired the wrong assistant. And for all you Boeheim haters, you are getting what you wished for.
Hodgson joined head coach Nate Oats's staff at Alabama in 2019 as the lead recruiter.[12] He oversaw a 2022 recruiting class which was ranked third in the nation by 247Sports. He was personally responsible for the recruitment of Brandon Miller and Jaden Bradley.[13]
This should be the guy.Hodgson was ranked the #2 recruiter nationally by 24/7 sports. Sound familiar to someone we know?
For the "anyone can recruit with Bama's NIL" crowd, Hodgson has also now recruited multiple four stars to Arkansas St (!)
Nationally renowned recruiter, upstate ties. I'm telling you, this guy has the juice.
Yep, should be a no brainer. This should be the guy.
B Miller? Yikes not sure that’s a flex. Hopefully if we get him here we take in character guys like Fran does with footballFrom wikipedia:

Not from what I’ve seenThere is enough talent on the roster for this squad to go on a run, although I think the chances of that are close to zero given how it is managed.
Not with the current attendance figures.I don’t buy it that the school collects welfare checks… been hearing that song and dance forever even though the basketball program is one of the highest revenue generating teams in the country.
Why the heck would Freeman stay here? His coach doesn't even trust him in crunch timeThat’s correct, but I’d lay some good odds on it.
Anything is possible though.
How much is SU losing in tickets sales and concessions because of poor basketball attendance? It has to be between $5-$10m a year at this point.I just can’t understand how it’s even possible. All the money that Syracuse has brought in over the years. The move to the ACC was about football and more money. All these things were to boost the athletic department financially. I mean for the past 4 decades we’ve had the largest basketball crowds in the country and one of the largest brands. I get football is just swinging back in the right direction but it just doesn’t make any sense.
I don’t know but they’re not offering modified season ticket packages because they were sold out. I don’t think they got anywhere near the renewals they expected this season with the new seats etc.How much is SU losing in tickets sales and concessions because of poor basketball attendance?
