Coach Search Options after Autry

We are so pathetic, but what’s even worse is how the fans are treated like garbage because the admin don’t give a crap. Used to be a proud program now can’t cough up an extra two million more for NIL

First off thats an unsubstantiated rumor, 2nd you do realize SU is already paying the max allowable. There is no 2 mill more to cough up. NIL has to come from outside the school. If you wanna bitch I get it but you gotta at least get the facts straight.

Here is my take.

Whoever is the coach will need all of our support more than ever. Seats filled to bring in more revenue.

Don't make assumptions about what they will be able to accomplish.

I wanted Hodgson. But honestly I have a lot more to worry about in my every day life than the fact that he isn't coming...or is he? We really do not know how this new world of NIL will play out in the end. BUt most likely he is out of the running. I actually feel like it was an SU decision.

If it all stems from 2 factions of donors up against each other, than maybe the best thing for now was a compromise coach and to keep both parties in the donation game.

Maybe there was something in Hodgson's background that we didn't like We just don't know.

But what peee's me off more than anything is all the talk about no longer supporting the program.

It may take building it up all over again from the bottom. And the bottom may start with a coach you are less than thrilled about. But let's fill the seats get money for revenue sharing back in line, and let our new guru fundraising AD work on building relationships that will lead to substantial NIL money.

It all just might have been too soon to get those funds in line.

If it is Gerry, enjoy the nostalgia, and hope that he an pull the rabbit out of the hat.

I really don’t understand why Syracuse thinks Gmac is the guy. Let me make this clear, I love Gmac and everything he’s done for Syracuse. He’s also an amazing person. However, he had the best NIL in an awful league, almost all of his wins are Q4, and he can’t recruit here (this isn’t even a hypothetical, this was proven when he was an assistant here).

Gmac was not the main target and I also doubt he currently is

He just won the MAAC tournament with 5.5 guys. So the NIL point is moot. The MAAC is mostly full of Q4 teams. He was rarely outcoached all season and constantly made halftime adjustments that led to the team playing well. He also got a 4* to commit to Siena over Providence.

thank you, we complain we cant get anyone, but also claim we wont support the program, which guarantees that we cant get anyone.

I understand not liking it, but wanting better and not suportting the program are pretty damn near mutually exclusive

I agree about “supporting the program” stuff you said but this school the past 9 years or so has been on a decline in athletics and they still say the same bs and have not fixed it. I like Fran hope he can help us succeed but he just went 3-9 and talks about him having a good season and leaving. Now it’s one thing if he’s poached because we can’t afford him anymore but it’s another if it’s because of Syracuse he leaves. And basketball front wise we did a continuity hire and could potentially be bringing back another alum. That doesn’t look right to a few of us who want the best candidate available.

If Field of 68 has been parroting Hodgson hard so far, and GMac shares the same agent, it would make sense they would push GMac for the other direction through Field of 68. They have also been the only outlet reporting anything regarding these 2 coach searches. It’s so weird. I dont think anything is developing with GMac, they are pushing and they are trying to say Hodgson decision is closer by backing out, otherwise there’s no way Syracuse wouldn’t come back and counter. Syracuse could be completely going in the opposite direction.
