Coach Search Options after Autry

Seriously a high level summary of the last 50 pages -

- Hodgson withdrew his name - he doesn’t appear he was offered the job
- Twitter rumors imply it was an NIL issue, board rumors apply a little more than just NIL being a problem
- Jake hinted at an announcement as early as today - which would imply either a current AC (Murray) or a coach not in the postseason currently (Olen, Hopkins, Holloway)
- Board consensus seems to think it’ll be Hop

If Gmac is hired I’ll say it publicly and I’ll Dm you my ticket location two in section 212 and 2 in 213. All you have to do is make the donation and pay the bill. Maybe you will have better luck filling them than I did this year, I can certainly find better ways to spend about 15 grand between tickets, donations, parking, food, drinks. It’s funny your the third person that’s said something about supporting the team, not sure if u were at the games this year but the Pitt and SMU games lots of people failed to support the team when they didn’t like the coaching situation.

Been a season ticket holder since the Dome opened.

Only missed games due to work or illness.

Clearly, I'm in the minority here.

How about the grand prize of summarizing the 40 pages some of us just skipped?
Hogdson is apparently out. Basketball alums still want Hop and are apparently willing to pony up for bad coaching as part of the SU friends and family plan. Still some hope that Blair can pull something out of his rear to save us from Hop, but not with Hodgson.

Hopefully I have that all right, but it's probably changed by now anyway.

I would not hate Olen. But he is in the NIT, and playing tomorrow...

With you 100 percent I can’t blame any fans for being done with the program right now it’s been a slow decline for a decade now where the school seems behind the 8 ball on the changing landscape and content to put out a bad team and just cash ACC checks. I know a few season ticket holders that couldn’t give thier tickets away the last two years and outside of a big coaching hire aren’t renewing.

It is what it is- for now. SU men's hoops will end up with a new coach. It will be exciting. Go Cuse!!

No, I have 7 tickets for football I have missed 6 games since 1998, I go to at least 2 road games every year and I sat through the Grob era. But we just got done firing Red who was on the staff with Gmac, he was not the pick the first time and I think after one good season at Siena is not a sample size I’m ok with. I think it would be a non serious hire and I will still watch but I won’t pay for it.

Just wait until you send one there.
Glad mine is at VT. He suffered bad this year as a freshman and immediately gets James Franklin and likely a top 25 team the rest of his time there.

very clear at this point that the agent was getting ahead of the story. why syracuse decided to go in a different direction? that i'm unsure of. last i heard BH had asked for a specific # and they hadn't yet given him the necessary assurances. perhaps they didn't care to.

i'll also add this: the panic on this board is not 100% justified. i felt BH was probably our best candidate. most of us first heard about him a few months ago. not sure this is worth a full meltdown.

the optics of this (the agent using goodman to make us look bad) are probably the most frustrating part. it doesn't help the narrative that we are struggling with NIL (which i think is somewhat true but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be)

If it is Blair and a few others making this decision, I still think in 3 years we count this as Blair hire and not make an excuse for him. Good or Bad.

Well lets not forget about the hof coach who continues to throw wood on to the fire with his comments constantly

This is where I am. Haven’t had seasons since 98 but gone to plenty of football home and road games had basketball seasons for years got rid of them during Covid mainly due to family size growing I have 4 kids and couldn’t afford it. Have traveled to ncaa tournament multiple times to see them play, if they hire Gmac or Hop I’m out completely. I’ll watch on tv when I can but not going out of my way until they show they’re serious about having a good basketball program again.

Syracuse needs to go on the offensive with the narrative, or they risk the fan base losing faith.

This is what agents are paid to do... no? Also I suspect if Syracuse pulled out it's because they couldn't meet the number or couldn't commit to that number on an annual basis. So you can spin it either way, but if the number had been met BH would be the next coach... he isn't going to be the next coach so the interpretation is in the eye of the beholder.

The story here is Syracuse either couldn't or wouldn't meet his number. Whether that number was fair or not I have no idea. My bet is BH is in the SEC 2 years from now
