I’m not sure we’re going to get Gerry. I think the key would be getting him the resources he wants. He’s not going to come here if the NIL isn’t there. And the only way the $ is there is if Melo can be convinced to support Gerry like he is planning to support Hop.

If that happens, and it’s huge if, I think ultimately JB helps smooth over the hard feelings and convinces GMAC to take the job.

Wait. Melo supports Hop & not GMac or Hodgson or whomever else??

Why would anyone support Hop at this stage? Nothing wrong with him, but seems to me his moment is 10 years past.

I was comfortably on the Hodgson train and completely against GMac. But after today I’m fine if we hire him. I’m doing some mental gymnastics to get myself prepared. I think I’m there.

If it’s him, we need to get him in here asap. Give everyone time to warm up to the idea. I like the fact that AW is his buddy and benefactor. I feel like that’s a relationship that can be rekindled. I know a lot of people here despise him but money is money is money.

BH has JAB backing him?
BH had all the other Syracuse players speaking on his behalf?
BH had the sudden extra NIL money coming?
BH won a title here?
BH was an assistant coach here?

It is not the same. Regardless of NIL GMac is taking the job.

I’m not sure how you can put Murray above GMac. I think Murray will be a great coach, but it’s a much bigger risk than GMac at this point.

I may be mistaken but I'm not sure a college assistant with no HC experience has ever been hired by a P4 team outside of internal promotions.

The general feeling has been that while we had about 9 million this year, all in, that was a one shot deal and it would be tough to match that this year.

If we can’t get over $10 million, we should consider dropping basketball.

Pretty sure the Arizona coach was hired as an assistant from Gonzaga

Tommy Lloyd if you count Gonzaga as a power conference school. 20 years as Few’s assistant and that is it, but that’s exactly what scares me about Murray.

I'll preface this by saying I don't know anything but I listen to what a new 40 year old AD says when he says outside the box this morning.

I think alot of insiders here are getting their info from their insiders that have been in the hoops family for a long time. Years, decades even. Many of which are long time donors and folks that get phone calls and know what's up with NIL etc.

Here's what interests me, when a new AD was purposefully hired outside the family with zero connection to major donors my suspicion is that was for a reason. They want him to be independent, maybe the NIL sucks now and he will promise a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow or maybe he will say write a check for 15 mil today and you get your man. I don't think anyone in CNY actually knows the guy except maybe our new Football DC and that's by design.

Right now we are being fed info from insiders that may only be hearing the family side of the story, the same folks talking about Hop and Gmac. And obvi we already heard from the BH side through Goodman.

I don't believe we've actually heard anything from anyone close to BB or that is actually close to the process. If I'm wrong as usual I'm sure I'll be corrected.
