Skinn could alsoBasically I think Gerry can bring most of his staff with him. But at Syracuse he will be able to add to it. The big one is I think an offensive minded AHC.

As I and others have posted, he was not interested about 2 weeks ago before the MAAC tournament for various reasons. I think TPTB really pissed him off when he was not even considered for the job when Red was hired. Not even spoken to - just told a flat no, Red is getting it.Interesting quote from JB on GMAC. “He’ll decide what he wants to do and I’ll support him.”
Sounds like he’s the first call and that it’s not a slam dunk.
Whether he goes to Providence or not matters not...He turned us down becuase we have no money. He ain't coaching Jaquan Carlos 2.0 next year. And why would he?Clickbait Rob claims another victim
Don't feed the twitter trolls.
Well the Cuse is going to hire its national championship and 2x Big East Tournament champion point guard. Who happens to be a head coach that just won the MAAC and gave the number 1 overall seed all it could handle in the first round. Does Providence have one of those I'm not aware of? Cope lol.No they like it...
Providence > Cuse
After missing 100+ pages in this thread posted yesterday while watching March Madness at KeyBank... this is also where I find myself. I've never doubted G-Mac's ability to coach, I just never thought he was ready to make the jump from Siena to Syracuse. However, I think the noise has become too loud to tune out with the MAAC Championship and an all-time performance against Duke yesterday.
Additionally, if all that’s been said about our NIL situation is true, then we really have no choice other than to go with him. As much as I detest Weitsman, it’s clear if we are ever going to be competitive again in basketball, we need him involved. Both Boeheim and G-Mac have had no problem taking money from him, and he clearly wants back in with the program. If he will legitimately contribute for G-Mac, then he seems like the most logical option. I would love to take a shot on Murray or Martelli Jr. but it seems like we would just be setting them up to fail if the money won't be there. I will end up rooting for whoever we hire, but if he can legitimately generate the funds some are talking about, G-Mac seems like the best move.
PMJWhat of Gerrry declines the job? Just a question to ponder...
False. Are we playing true or false?Whether he goes to Providence or not matters not...He turned us down becuase we have no money. He ain't coaching Jaquan Carlos 2.0 next year. And why would he?

It is fake, but the negative nancys here are so eager to share negative news that they could care lessNo they like it...
Providence > Cuse
That's how I got through the last 3 seasons with Red.
None of this would be a discussion if GMAC had been tagged 3 years ago. Out!I would go with GMac over Skinn at this point. My biggest criticism of Gerry is that I wanted him to be more seasoned, but from the replay his game plan yesterday, beating Scheyer at the adjustments chess match (as much as he could given his pieces), and basically drawing blood from a stone have alleviated my major concerns.
I'm still really concerned about how awful it would be if it goes sideways a la Red, but I think Gerry's ceiling is astronomically higher. Hopefully if he's the guy, he's ready to put it all together.
If we don't find out in the next hour its prob not gmac. BB cannot be chatting with Stevie and Paulie without something to say and that's at 1.
So if we don't get the gmac news he's def doing damage control that we are still looking and to be patient for someone better.
So we have money for Bryan Hodgson? Not sure I understand?False. Are we playing true or false?
By that rationale Buddy will never be our head coach! From Skinn's Wikipedia: "Controversy followed Skinn, however, after he punched opposing guard Loren Stokes in the groin with 55 seconds left in GMU's game against Hofstra in the semifinals of Colonial Athletic Association conference tournament."
Since Hodgson's candidacy was sunk by his perfectly legal relationship with his child-bearing fiance, clearly SU won't hire a guy who punched a dude in the nuts 20 years ago.
I'd certainly be plenty happy with that, be he may have just coached himself out of our budgeted range, if things are as they seem to be here.PMJ

Well I guess we'll see what he says then. Just A hi how you guys all doing with no news is not going to sit well I don't thinkDefinitely don’t agree with this take, the people involved with this decision will get the news out when the time is right. Some artificial if it’s not out in the next hour is ridiculous.

Yep - done deal.Wow, you’re really good at photoshop. It really looks like Joeheim is wearing the Syracuse jacket in that pic!

leverage from what?Tony Skinn still has some leverage up in Cuse. Sounds like if it’s not Gerry it’ll be him.
This is really the key and it goes for way more than just Murray. Like Hopkins for example obviously got a pretty long runway as a head coach for Washington and it didn't end well there. But it's been several years. The thing that only the people in the interview room can answer is: "What did Hopkins learn in the last few years that would make him a better coach today?"Arizona fans were prob angry about Lloyd but it’s worked out for them. I think if you get a sense in the interview that an asst for a big program in a winning culture is ready, sometimes you have to be a little early.
I’ll riot.Tony Skinn still has some leverage up in Cuse. Sounds like if it’s not Gerry it’ll be him.
You are putting the cart before the horse.I have said the same thing myself on this forum - Doty and Anthony on the same roster puts us immediately behind the 8 ball. Something will have to give.
