Its kinda bizarre how defensive people are in this thread. You have the analytics group who don't appreciate the fans who support GMac and you have the emotional/works hard fan group who doesn't appreciate the experience/offensive capabilities of a guy like Schertz.
Each guy has their pluses and minuses. No need for one side to belittle the other. Hopefully whomever ends up getting the nod can help SU regain its position as a basketball great.

Thinking about it, nothing has really happened in the last two hours other than people arguing about whether it's an affront to Gerry McNamara to call him a good head coach who's not great yet. You're making me question how I spent the last couple hours of my life.

They were awful the year before they hired Gerry and were pretty good the 5 years before that.

Not saying he didn’t do a good job but it’s not like Siena was a disaster for years and years before he showed up.

The roster was absolutely pathetic when Gerry took over.

Honestly, it’s kind of win win right now. You get Gmac you get the $$$ and new donors. If you get Schertz you get the better coach. I’m hoping Schertz but I think bc of the Duke game, the fans have a completely emotional excitement that wasn’t there before that game

I think with both it opens doors for both camps to be brought into the fold over time if not right away.

I cant see how anyone can be like pass not interested anymore which was how people felt with Autry and late stage JB

Not necessarily. There were rumors Schertz had discussions on Wednesday this week. So who knows.

I highly doubt that the school will announce anything until the ink is dry. On a week day. The earlier in the week the better for getting out from under the NCAA tourney coverage.

Own the press cycle.

Probably be leaked before then by someone like Thamel, though. Remember, the fans finding out and the school officially announcing it are very different things.

No inside info here, but let's say they talked last week and they were agreed upon on the numbers for him, but NIL needed to hit a certain point. So they agree to wrap it up after his games this week if they get the NIL there.

They do, they could easily have the contract waiting for him in Buffalo. Story leaks by tomorrow, announcement is made with a Monday presser?
