From my understanding it wouldn’t be for a lack of trying with Schertz.

I have talked to a lot of casual SU fans this week and every single one wants GMAC
Only die hard college basketball fans want someone else.

Let’s just say there won’t be a huge jump in season ticket sales after the announcement we are hiring Schertz.
If they announce it is GMAC, they might crash the Cuse.com site.

We've had a few coaches win the press conference that haven't been great long-term choices.

I do not think everyone will be happy. A lot fans are tired of legacy hires. Gerry has only shown a couple of season. He may turn out to be a great coach I just don’t think the university can take the risk at this point.
Forget about what JB wants. He’ll throw the university under the bus either way. Don’t pick Gerry awful pick. Pick Gerry and he fails everyone else’s fault.

Catching up to the thread when your 18 pages down feels like a great accomplishment. The problem is that now I'm tired of reading and going to take a break. I know I'll come back another 18 pages behind. I can't wait for this to be over.

The worst is when you're about to be caught up, and you click next page expecting to be on the last, but it's suddenly five more pages... Then you read those and nothing actually happened.

You don't know what you don't know...

Most casual fans know nothing about other programs' coaches (unless they have been around in marquee programs forever.)

It's why people that do know, should make the right decision.

"Our fans aren't smart enough to know who this guy is and won't support him..." is a strawman argument... If he comes here and wins, coaches an exciting product, etc. people will get on board fast.

We are starved for a winner.

"Casual" being the important term there.

And you have no idea there won't be a huge jump in ticket sales. Schertz has rebuilt 3 teams. Why not 4?

Again, I won't be unhappy with either choice. But to say that unless it's Gerry we're doomed shows me your unwilling to even consider anyone but Gerry.
