I am going to guess it's more us trying to sell the whale gmac-only NIL donors to go for Schertz... No idea if they'll be able to do that.

If the donors are open to a rational argument, they will support schertz. If they aren't open to that, Schertz is out.

Prolly what they told Schertz as well. If you will take the job for offer X, let us work on our NIL donors to hopefully get them there... No promises, but we will try our hardest.

Someone like Schertz saying yes without promises is hard to imagine.

Well if I had a million dollars to give to GMAC, it would be a hard sell for me to switch my money.
I would hold on to my money and tell them to approach me in a year after I got to see how well Schertz can do.
And that is not being irrational, that is the result of knowing nothing but the statistics that are being thrown at me about Schertz.
But that is just how I would feel as a donor.

I must say it does bother me that Schertz agreed to a contract extension, then decided to go to another school. I know it is a business, but that just seems cold.

Ironically if Schertz was interested the whole time … a Duke blowout over Siena would have been better for the whole situation. A Duke blowout I think even media could have said GMac wasn’t ready

That GMAC was a beloved player here has two tangible benefits: (1) fundraising, which is crucial in this day and age; and (2) if he succeeds, this is probably his destination school, while Schertz could look to upgrade to a top 5-10 program if one opens up down the line.

Josh Schertz isn’t coming to Syracuse for less NIL. If he comes it’s because BB and Cuse will get him 12-15mil in NIL a year and a 5yr $25mil contract

You have to get to that point first, If Schertz gets us to the final four and leaves so be it, it's the business. We never really lost a coach to another school since Danforth. If gmac is barely better than autry, our bball program is in big trouble.
