Coach Search Options after Autry

Autry knew how to play the game.
There is possibly only one HC who we could assert “has stopped learning” and he recently lost that job. The rest are still learning.

Sorry, man—I’m not really picking on you, just that language. That phrase is just so overworn and meaningless. Coaches are trying to win. It’s their profession. They all ‘study,’ and there is no way to know who studies more than someone else.
I knew someone would push back, but if you can’t see it in McNamara I don’t know what to tell you.
Plus it was a pushback on people that think he can’t adapt and the other armchair experts.

Pay attention everyone.

We are once again coming dangerously close to another "my source is better than your source" or "you have no source" d1ck-measuring contest.

Knock it off and discuss.

Or maybe you'll be reading and not discussing.

As I posted the other day, my source told me Brendan Paul.
I'm pretty sure my source is the crappiest of them all.

Well I think it’s because he’s gonna have a ton of nil money and took a 4 win team 2 years ago to the ncaa tournament.
I can live with gmac but we have to look past year 1.

If gmac gets that big nil bag and things get ugly we got big big problems or year 2. All the sudden that big bag may not show up again ya know. But gmac will still be the same coach trying to do more with less and now we’re just bubble again and again.

The same could be said for Schertz as well but on the portal and coaching side of the equation he is the safer choice by far.

Rick Barnes said in his presser leading up to Syracuse game that while watching film “one thing was clear, Syracuse has the right guy” obviously speaking about Red. If coaching candidates earned jobs by compliments, Red would still be the coach.
Coaches stick up for coaches, and they should

Tobin Anderson took over a 4 win team and took them to the NCAA tournament his first year as the HC at FDU and beat Purdue. Made the jump to the basketball powerhouse Iona and got fired after 2 seasons.

Listen imo I want shertz. But if it’s gmac everyone needs to suck it up and get behind him. He will need support because this is an important time in our program

If it is really an important time in our program then GMac wouldnt be the hire and we would hire someone with real experience.

I want us to hire whoever the best available head coach is which I believe to be Schertz, however, I have no idea who is on AD Blair’s list or who has reached out to express interest. I don’t want us to just settle for Gmac IF there are better options.
I mean, of course. We can all hold out hope for an 11th hour surprise. I'm only dealing with the tangible info we actually have.

What 😂!!! Iona seriously
Missed the sarcasm. Was implying that taking over a bad team and taking them to the tournament fast does not make you qualified for a big job. Tobin Anderson took over a 4 win team, had them in the tournament the very next season, and beat Purdue, and the best job he could get was Iona.

Lucky I have no sources
Same. We just need a coach. I like both options in different ways for the record.

It just grinds my gears when we get comments that could be just a copy and paste from what Goodman started last week or what these troll parody posters put out.

If his name wasn’t Gerry McNamara would you be excited about hiring the Siena coach for our opening?

No offense to Gerry or to Siena but if you had told 2023 Dan that after Autry flames out were hiring a 2 year HC from Siena I would lose my mind
But he is Gerry McNamara. That’s a factor. This team belongs to the town as much, if not more than the University. He shouldn’t get the job because he is Gerry McNamara, but he did a great job at Siena. By all accounts his teams played hard and they improved over time. He had a better game plan against Duke than we did.
Sometimes, the right answer pops up. If he was still one of Red’s assistants, no way he should get the job. He ventured out, had proven himself as much as he can at this point in time. The 80/20 rule applies in this universe as well.
