UK won’t hire a guy from a MM with that little track record.
Let’s hope…

I think he's retiring soon?Is Greg McDermott even a consideration? Guy seems to win yearly. Pitino was effusive of him recently.
An important note: it's not just what you do, but how you do it and with what pieces. Shertz has shown to be a superior Xs and Os coach, especially on O. What will he do with the pieces he could acquire at Cuse, against top programs? That's the calculation that will determine his candidacy.Yeah what’s his SOS rank? We would be pretty dang good against that schedule.
KemPom SOS Net RatingYeah what’s his SOS rank? We would be pretty dang good against that schedule.
He's playing the hand he's been dealt pretty well with less resources than a power 4 school. The guy has won everywhere.Yeah what’s his SOS rank? We would be pretty dang good against that schedule.
He already makes more than Autry right nowIf Red doesn’t take this team on a run and earn another year… Schertz may not be a cheap option… especially if someone like UK is coach hunting …
He’s been overrated for a long timeThe guy I wanted three years ago was Shaka Smart. And he looked like a great choice in his first three years at Marquette, but last season he was 23-11 with a first round loss in the NCAA and now he is below 500. The shine is off of him for the moment, but he is more likely to move now than 3 years ago and at a price we can afford. I think he would be worth an interview.

At the halfway point in the season, Skinn and Schertz are currently neck and neck. Tied for first in the Atlantic 10 with 17-1 (5-0) records.
I don’t think we can go wrong with either option. If we can’t land one of these guys to replace Red we are doing something seriously wrong.
My fear is there will be fierce competition for both and we will be left with a lower tier option.
Good question. I think Kiyan would come back given Melo’s influence. Other than that, I’m not sure. Depends on the coach obviously.Well If we are going to be serious about our hoops program we need to win on our choice.
I will be curious who, if anyone will stay both staff and players. Do we keep anyone should we get one of these two guys or is it a complete roster turnover?
Staff, absolutely not.Well If we are going to be serious about our hoops program we need to win on our choice.
I will be curious who, if anyone will stay both staff and players ( Kline/Harris main question). Do we keep anyone should we get one of these two guys or is it a complete roster turnover?
Staff, absolutely not.
Players, I hope a few stay. We have some talent.
However, there will be a large turnover given NIL and the transfer portal. The new coach needs to come in with an ability to quickly assemble a strong roster. I hope the boosters come out to support the new coach with some big NIL coffers.
Totally up to the new coach but I would think the only considerations would be Harris Straughn and Kline. Harris would be good to retain. Wouldnt mind keeping Straughn to recruit the DMV. Kline is all behind the scenes so i have no idea if he’s actually good but all reports make it seem like he’s very useful.Well If we are going to be serious about our hoops program we need to win on our choice.

I would hope the new HC would want his own GM, or want his own organizational structure.I don’t think Kline is going anywhere unless the hire coming in has serious clout. The GMs in college ball seem to work for the AD.
I don’t think Hodgson is a viable option this year give. He’s in year 1 at USF. He’s going to miss his window as I don’t think we’ll hire a coach that’s putting up average results at a lower tier program.Saint Louis about to beat a good Richmond team by 30 to go to 17-1. Ironically Saint Louis and George Mason are in the same conference but only play each other once: the last game of the regular season. Also, South Florida plays on ESPNU tomorrow. Hodgson has them at 11-6 right now.
I agree. The only thing to consider with Hodgson is the Lally connection.I don’t think Hodgson is a viable option this year give. He’s in year 1 at USF. He’s going to miss his window as I don’t think we’ll hire a coach that’s putting up average results at a lower tier program.
SLU plays GMU in the last game of the year. I’m sure that game will have a ton of SU fans tuning in.
Yeah what’s his SOS rank? We would be pretty dang good against that schedule.
