Coach Search Options after Autry

He’s also just not a dynamic and charismatic personality who can sell the program. That goes a long way. We need that. JB didn’t have it either but he was forceful and confident and smart, and that went a long way.

There are thousands of books and sales coaches out there. Most people aren't natural sales people but anyone can learn.
I'm sure if he wanted to, he could have studied winning coaches along with offensive and defensive strategies.
If you want to succeed you have to put the work in and be a student of the game.
Red really hasn't changed anything over the last 3 years.

Really enjoying how he is actively managing the games and players during tv time out. Seems like an active 3-2 type zone. Offensive sets w screens and movement. Shot gets off quick. Not a lot of dribbling.

It’s man but they switch almost everything so it seems like a zone at times.

Tulsa is solid they will or should push back in this half at some point

So the question is if Schertz is a no, Hodgson isn’t experienced enough and we go outside the Boeheim tree, where does that leave us?

Id be apprehensive above Hodgson. No March Madness experience and I’m not blown away by his coaching aside from a more appealing offensive system. ACC seems to be won by well balanced teams, not just fire power.

He and Skinn are my floor one offense and one defense. I prefer offense for the casual fan fun and excitement level as I think the system will score points regardless of conference. I think we should do better than both but there will be way worse random candidates that I am afraid of.

I have been writing about them in this thread. After Schertz next two are Olen and Calhoun. Olen probably be Arizona State though.

I will look at a couple of more guys and gather info on them this week.

That’s the million dollar question. Who knows? It depends on how much SU is willing to pay, how they sell the program, and how the candidate sells their vision.

He controls the team and holds the players accountable for the first half I’ve seen in person. They made a three and he was upset bc it wasn’t the offensive set. That said, JJ would flourish in this system. And to end layup attempts at 1000 mph a few too many times.

Usually when teams start taking away the paint that is when they start launching 3s. Tulsa got beat last game by the 3 so it looks like their game plan is to take that away and force them to drive.

Has Hoiberg been mentioned? He’d be intriguing and we certainly have advantages over his current placement

He is midwest to the core, wouldnt leave imo. Couldnt afford em anyway
i think locations more of an issue than affordability. I think donors and the school could pony up a competitive offer against Nebraska in basketball given the opportunity for a COY candidate who’s proven in turnarounds.

Its worth a shot.

There’s Adrian Griffin thatd be a little outside the box

I’d still consider Murray regardless of experience.

This is actually a funny suggestion, because it might work. Find a guy at a lower level with a proven track record, and unleash the hounds. Enough of the excuses, enough of the artificial constraining the candidate pool to to people with ties where our program, go. Find the best candidate you can and see what happens

His name is Jim Crutchfield. He's 69 years old but I can't get over his career record. The guy is 581 and 87. That an 87% career winning %

He's 222–26 (.895) at Nova Southeastern with 2 National Championships.

I've watched a couple of national championship games that Nova Southeastern has played in [including one two years ago, against a semi-local team [Minnesota State] to where I live.

They have a bunch of former D1 players who transfered down to play for championships. It is like watching a Pitino team, in terms of the defense and how they force turnovers. Great coach.

Would be a good leap of faith id get behind
