And frankly, after donating for the Melo center, I think no one has the right to gripe if he decides to spend his money differently.
My guess is he is backing Hopkins because he knows and trusts him.

I won’t speak for jdub30, but he just has that “it” factor and confidence that the best coaches have.

Maybe he will, but 23% from 3 and 58% at the line we really don’t need any more of that. If you can’t 75% from the line an 38+% from three there is no room at the Inn. SU needs to get back to solid Defensive team and at team the runs up and down but can play half court as well. Players that can shoot and finis at the rim. A PG that is a PG. …ing Hoops players. No more head cases. I’m sick of this BS from the last 10 years. How about basketball players. A mix of HS 4/5 stars, and quality portal players. Need to build a foundation that can compete with Duke. UNC, Louisville. SU was and should be again a power. Mediocrity is un acceptable we are SU. Old man out.

71st ranked high school recruit, though. Hodgson probably has a role in mind and plan to develop him. Not like we have anyone else signed.

I have way more confidence in Hodgson convincing Melo/donors to throw in NIL than I have in Hopkins to be an above average coach

Why are you so sure?

As someone who agrees with that poster I’ll take a stab.

He’s an elite recruiter and has raised NIL at both locations he’s been at. His teams play hard every possession which includes an emphasis on rebounding(novel) concept. His teams push the pace and rely entirely on shots at the rim or 3’s.

He’s not stuck to one defense and will mix man or zone depending on matchups. Teams struggle to score inside against his teams as they do a great job cutting off dribble penetration and are very physical on the ball. The only negative is he hasn’t done this at a power conference level, but it’s the same system Oats runs with what I would argue more emphasis on defense.
