Coach Search Options after Autry

It's hard because you have to separate the costs of running an AD and all the non-rev sports.

If you just separated out football and focused on that...the math would make sense for a lot more schools. But if you're including the cost of scholarships and the budgets for every sport...yea, there's no way, it's all bad.

And nobody talks about that -- the bargain before was that revenue sports subsidized a lot of good and scholarships in other sports. Now, that part of the trade is essentially gone. Either schools have to subsidize those sports on their own because they deem them valuable, or they have to figure another way out.

And I suspect you'll see a challenge to Title IX before the Supreme Court before long if another fix doesn't happen in Congress or with the conferences.
I’d guess the schools carve out football into separate for profit entities and PE comes in to fund capital. I still question the return model but it will be the end of title Ix as we know it

I'm curious if there are any other names coming up for the Syracuse job search other than Gerry and BH. Because if those are the two choices, it's simultaneously a mismatch and disappointing.

Edited to shift words to be more grammatically correct.
There were some random comments about some other candidates a while back. Was mostly vague things that we would be happy as a fanbase about them but no names and not much after.

I always figured it would be good to cast a wide net. Not like our fanbase needs to know of every candidate having a chat with us either. Was inevitable that BH and Gmac would get all the attention, maybe that's a good thing.

I am shocked we’ve heard nothing about Martelli jr. He took Bryant to the tournament too. Makes me think BH is more of a sure thing than we think. Meanwhile Providence has Sendek and Olen as possible candidates.

You mean successful people? My dad worked at the same company for 40 years, I can assure you that the company did not care and he did not make money and they gave him a clock at retirement.

It's called a negotiation, and honestly it helps us too. If BH keeps asking for more and squeezes it out of school and donors then great, that means better players and coaches for us. Did we not learn from Autry that when he no idea what to even ask for over the years when it came to NIL and Staff. BH has a larger and better staff at USF that Autry would've ever dreamed about. Yet you sit here saying it's playing games ha. I think you're living in a dream world expecting otherwise.
This. IMO, if the negotiation is that deep and thorough, it also signals the significance from the Hodgson camp that they want to accept the Syracuse offer with the idea of being here for the long term and raising his family in Syracuse. The Syracuse Basketball negotiation should be that much deeper because when the program is operating at or close to it's ceiling, it will be generating the revenue that can make this a very long term destination for the candidate involved.

Seems like most people in the know think BH has been posturing for the job for over a year now. At this point it appears he is doing whatever he can to get the resources he needs to win at Syracuse. I for one will be absolutely shocked if he isn't Syracuse next head coach.
i would agree with this at the moment.

USF apparently is gathering money. He could sign and extension too with a low buyout.

Tampa with great weather and no state income taxes along with a league he could dominate is compelling

BH has been after our job for 2 years. If we get him the resources he wants, he will be here. Doesn't matter what agents leak to people to post on twitter. Now, if we try to pay way under market and not give him enough NIL or have a solid plan to get it then he can go someplace else. But an offer from Providence or USF is just going to be used to get more assurances from Syracuse first and foremost.

:) I always laugh at these posts. Weather and state taxes.

Also when people say in order for a coach to be interested in Syracuse they have to have played or coached in the 315 area code or is non-starter.

If Providence has so much money why has their best player who was a freshman already put his name in the portal?

Vaaks? His coach left.

He also said that he was going to PC because he saw what someone else did (i think from the same country) and realized he could go to Arizona (or wherever) and not play right away, or go to Providence to get paid AND play......and then go to Arizona! Lol

He was always leaving the moment he could.

College sports are so broken.

My point was if they had 14 million they could blow him away with an NIL offer that Arizona couldn't

Weather in FLA is like being in a sauna on the surface of the sun for 6+ months / year.

FFFF NO.

As JAB always said, who cares about weather during hoops season, and then in the summer Syracuse is like Hawaii. ;)

BH is from WNY.
Not like he’s never encountered the weather here.

I get it, but that dude was gonna be testing the market lol
He made it abundantly clear.
Plus, no coach.
