You may be conflating things. His salary, support staff, etc etc is one bucket which the school should meet.

The NIL / player compensation package...yeah well good luck going from a one time hit of 8 mil to 10-12 mil. You'd think the family that tweeting all over his wins in the AAC would put their money up. Maybe they still do.

This, Syracuse is more then willing to pay our on a HC salary and find the money for that. NIL is a different story, there' isn't some magical bucket of 8-10 mill just sitting there for SU to use for bball NIL. Fans need a reality check on where SU's finances are at.

A. Could not meet his demand NIL and Salary wise.

Btw Hodgson did not get the job, he DID NOT turn it down. I have this from one of the most legit and reputable sources in the game. Not sure if it’s Gerry or someone else, but this is the agent spinning it that he turned it down.

On some level also regardless of how big your NIL is you also have to coach id like to see the teams that spent the most on NIL versus the actual outcome. Far better success I’m sure but there are still outliers and my point being is you still have to know how to coach and motivate your players. Red had a lot of money to work with and the roster sucked in the end. Success equals more NIL you aren’t going to get syracuse fans to pony up for a @“$”)) product that’s just how it is

I don't know what to think. I do think this news make little sense to me as it stands. Maybe it is agent spin and our new A.D. decided to go in another direction. And the agent decided to throw some shade on his way out the door. This guy has lobbied for the job for over a year. I find it hard to believe he would drop out just like that. We will learn more. I think cooler heads should prevail at this time. Let this play out.
