More conference coach of the year awards than anyone this board wanted us to hire!

Trying to be positive.

Blair seems to have his stuff together and we dodged the Lyke bullet.

Hop and $30 mil. Maybe he hires his version of Tex Winter/Luke Murray, spends the NIL wisely on a really good roster and away we go...

Let's ***ing Go Orange!!!!!
Hop is going to hire Coleman, Tyler Lydon, and some other former SU player as his assistants. Watch it happen.

But thank you for the positivity. Really need it right now to be honest.

Or we just don’t want to burn money
Or they are becoming the St Louis Cardinals or Pittsburgh Pirates of college sports. Small market teams that puts out a mediocre product because they don’t invest in coaches and players, because they only care about the revenue share from their conference affiliation.

It seems that’s the direction they are taking things.

The same people who were furious that Lally was pushing his money towards hiring his guy should be equally as furious at the people who are pushing their money towards keeping it in the family.

Nah because it is Hopkins if it is people they want, then it is cool and they can do what they want with their money. How dare you tell them what is right or wrong. If they deem it as bad then screw those people trying to make it Lally Syracuse University.

I do think with Hop we’d get real assistants … not just Cuse guys. With GMac I feel like it would have been AO/Blackwell

We will know soon!

It’s amazing that you can be this positive, I wish I could be too

Honestly, I’d almost rather go with a high risk high reward hire at this point. Murray could turn out to be a home run. A lot of these other guys, I’m more skeptical of their ceiling.

Blair adds a Wildcard aspect. There's a greatwr then 0% probability of a hire that isn't BH or from the JB coaching tree. People need to calm the hell down and the mods help those who need some extra help in doing so

From what I know Melo would have still been a supporter if BH was the hire. I dont know about the 10 mill figure (again thats a thrown out figure) but he would still have been in. Now again there's other people who may have only been if it was Hop etc.
Was his son coming back to play for BH though? I think not.

Melo loves Cuse no doubt and I’m sure would still give but not more than his usual.

Based on the eye test. Gerry is literally everything Red isn't as a coach. Energy, feel for the game, when to sub, when to call timeouts, Xs and Os. Doesn't mean he's the best guy for the job now, but Gerry can coach.
I will concede all that 100 percent. I just doubt his upside because he doesn’t have experience running a modern fast paced offense.

I actually think there’s a collection of individuals on the board that are more intelligent on these topics than the BoT or individuals in the SU Administration.

There’s plenty of highly successful and brilliant people on this board.

Whenever you get the chance to hire the guy that was your coach in waiting for so long during good times but never gets it so he goes somewhere else, and then the good times turn bad while at the same time the guy never got going at the new place so hes off the map and you give it to a diff guy that was waiting at the same time as the good times but stuck through the bad times and got the job and made it worse times, so you you wanna go back to last future guy before the future guy that got it instead because the timing worked out, you gotta do it

Everyone just needs to let things play out.
We will.

Kind of hard to do right now.

We’re currently in a horrible position.

- Haven’t been relevant in a decade. ❌

- 2nd losing season in 3 years ❌

- One of the best upcoming coaches everyone and the university wanted doesn’t want us ❌

- Everyone in-house is fighting including donors and alumni ❌

- Even our finest insiders are perplexed to what’s going on ❌

- Gmac looking more likely with Hopkins tailing behind ❌

- The entire country doesn’t take us seriously, and that includes coaches ❌

- NIL might take a serious blow sending us further in irrelevancy if lallys and company don’t get a long ❌

Yea…

I’d say we’re pretty facked as of right now

Wildhack said quote on quote that they will hire a “proven winner”.

Why would you fire people like Corasiniti among others who I’m sure would’ve been kept on staff by Hopkins/GMAC.

They had intentions of going outside the family, let’s be clear.

Holy meltdown. Maybe it isn’t game of thrones donor edition and the new AD wants to go in a different direction? Or evaluate some other candidates.
100%. That was why he was hired, guy doing his job? Crazy.

Doesn’t Blair know he should just go to this thread to see who the right hire is?

Could be 1,000 reasons why they didn’t offer Hodge the job. We will most likely never know

There's plenty on the other end of the bell curve, too.

I should know.
:)

Congrats to all of you who are Syracuse grads, you are instantly more qualified to be the head coach of Syracuse basketball because of your degree from the school. It doesn’t matter if you’ve had a career in something totally unrelated to basketball, your degree supersedes qualified, proven coaches that did not graduate from Syracuse.

Now is your chance to submit your application for the head coaching role. Get’em!
I do feel both lucky and sad that I was a student during basically our last years of being a relative powerhouse.

'87 was my freshman year. That four year run of basketball, football and lacrosse spoiled me from the get go. I've seen what Syracuse can be when we're firing on all cylinders. Obviously a lot has changed in the college sports landscape, but I'd rather focus on the potential upside than wallow in the negative, woe is us attitude.
