Coach Search Options after Autry

SU basketball is perfect for a private equity turnaround. The legal mechanics of private equity investment in college sports are evolving but this might be a good test case for a carefully-tailored deal. Great brand, underperforming asset, management kinda tapped out, durable fan loyalty - it's all there.

So, sell a piece of basketball revenue streams to a private equity firm. They commit $75m-$125m over 3-5 years for NIL, content production, player brand mgmt. In exchange, PE gets a piece of the profits and a chance to upgrade under-utlized revenue streams (there are numerous examples in this thread).

It's way complex and I'm not even sure it's doable yet but someone is going to test the boundaries. Utah has done a lot of this already.

If private equity wasn’t inherently cannibalistic, this could work short term. It would probably be the death of the university’s sports in the long run.

Schertz and Hodgson out of play. Calhoun rumored to Cincy. I'd be okay with Olen, but think I'd take Martelli over him.

Olen is really really really good...

Career record of 263-129 .671 winning percentage
Multiple conference championships
2x Big West Coach of the Year
2x CCAA Coach of the year
Won NABC Pacific District Coach of the Year
Made NCAA Tournament 5 times

My only question on him is can he coach out east how would that transition work but is record and accomplishments are really good

Hi, I'm Sarah McLachlan. Will you be an angel for a helpless basketball program? Every day innocent Syracuse fans are abused, beaten, and neglected by the product put on the floor. And they are crying out for help. Please call the number on your screen...and join the Syracuse NIL collective with a monthly gift right now. For just 44 cents a day you'll help rescue Orange fans from their abusers. You'll provide medical care, food, shelter, and love, but most of all hope. Hope for a better future.
You win the post of the day!!!!

PE needs an exit eventually whether it’s the first firm or the fourth. Somewhere along the line you need a strategic who picks up the “optimized” company but the school is never buying back that equity

But rev share is still limited to a certain amount and can’t go above it. NIL is unlimited!
That is why I said the links for women's and men's basketball will probably only be live until they fill their share or quota up. They won't get a bigger cut of the pie. Others have posted on her what the splits are. Football gets most of it. It just gives us as fans the option to choose where we want our finds to go...up to a point.

But currently there is no basketball NIL collective that we can donate to. And while I am a fan of smaller donations adding up, I don't think that concept works as well for NIL because of the large amount of money needed. So it would take a whole lot of $44s to make a difference.

Here is tonights math question: How many people must donate $44 in order to purchase one basketball player who is a 6th man off the bench.

About 23,000 (check my math but that should just over 1 million I did it in my head)
