Coach Search Options after Autry

I mean, most schools with an open seat are considering Gmac...

If he goes to say, Georgia Tech and makes them a winner, would you be able to stomach that? Would we as a fan base be able to stomach that?

Consigliere presented me with that and its something that has stuck with me through this process.

I am not sure that I or this fan base could stomach it.
If Gmac is successful somewhere else, take some TUMS and...

who cares? We should be focused on finding the best person for the job. That's it. We can go hard after gmac when he proves himself at a higher level.

I'm not going to pile on, I'm an admitted hoops-only, I understand the reality of what drive$ thing$ in bigtime college $port$ now, but... it just really sucks that the prospects of a proud, legendary program are hitched to the whims of football brain
I'm a casual football fan and agree 100%

If the BOT and Search Committee’s hesitant about Murray because we may not get the fan support, local buzz and butts in the seats…

Then what the actual are we doing? We just hired an AD who specializes in fundraising and generating buzz.

Hire Murray, take the W and call it an offseason. He’s unanimously seen as “Next Up” across NCAAB and the blue bloods.
He is the only one that can unite the clans! If gmac gets it we lose the the initiative on an outside the family hire. If Bh got it then we deal with the Lally mess.

Luke Murray comes in with no baggage. He was in college around. The glory years of Cuse and UConn going 6 OTs as well. People are like oh it’s a dream job for BH. Cuse may be high up on the list for a lot of guys born around my age in the early mid 80’s.

They just started looking for a head coach when they announced Red's firing ... lol.

Of course they were looking for a new HC months ago, your acting like this has been a deal for almost a year which there is zero evidence of.

Doty needs to be our 3rd option if we want to be good next year
No. If he is our 3rd option, it will mean our roster is weak. He is a good kid and player but will need time to continue to get better and adjust to a higher level of competition.

I know this is a fan site and there are people we root for, but many of us, myself included, have over the years had too high expectations for certain guys and talk about them as if they are saviors or top recruits only to see them falter or barely get off the bench.

Until we can consistently get guys who can put a team on his back (ie Melo, Wallace etc), we need good coaching where we can put guys in position to play to their talent, guys that gel and believe in the game plan. As much as we detest Hurley and UConn, what he has done the past few years, developing talent, implementing a game plan, having players buy in, and winning at a high level is commendable and should be our model.

You spend the money on getting the legal minds you need, like the attorney with relevant experience AW got and you build your business model around it. Some of the most successful non profits I’ve worked with that have stayed in business to support their missions mostly rally around having legal experts and attorneys at their core to find every loophole possible to raise money and expand services.
As you know I believe the world should be run by lawyers

So, what if the new coach is successful? Wouldn't it be easier to keep GMac here than Hodgson? If Hodgson is successful, would we continue to be able to afford him? I suppose you say that successful money will afford him, but it could be a lot of money.

How about we worry about becoming successful before we worry about what happens to the coach that makes us successful.

Yes but that's not the way you want to think. If he came here had insane success and left o well. There are worse problems.

You don't get a second chance to make a first impression. Haynie got it right with Blair, now Blair has to get it right with the hoops coach.
Mind sharing a cliff's notes summary for those of us who didn't see it?

1000x
I went to Hartwick undergrad and have a friend who is close to our BOT. I see these men and women scratching and clawing to keep the college alive. I don't think it's long for the world unfortunately with finances and demographics looming, but they're innovating and putting up the good fight. And they've actually stabilized a bit after COVID thanks to a couple of programs they've implemented that have helped revenue and enrollment.

Then I see SU and an anemic endowment that's way lower than it should be, declining rankings, declining athletics, declining standing, but increased tuition and increased admin salaries. Syracuse has truly awful leadership.
