2) he’s rightfully upset that people are writing candidates off because they are from the tree. It doesn’t seem like he’s saying it’s stupid to look outside, but instead it’s stupid to say no to people simply BECAUSE they are part of the family. Eh I think you are overstating - I think people are implying Doty could contribute here, guess it's semantics with "fundamental". Also MAAC players succeed at the P4 level - the MOP of the tournament last year was in fact a MAAC guy I think. Who can forget the immortal Dakota Leffew? Not saying you build your program around them but it's proven every year there are kids in lower leagues and lower levels who can play, and frankly with our finances, if we want to improve we had better find some.

Btw GMAC is going to be a legit and really good head coach I have no doubt about it, but it’s 2026. You can’t hire based on projection in 10 years, but right now and the next 5.

There is a big difference between being a GMac supporter as a player and person than supporting GMac an unqualified candidate to be our next head coach.

People keep talking about a "plan." When you replace the Chancellor, AD and head coach...there is no plan other than hiring the replacements and let them create their own plan. I know they said Wildhack was being helpful but other than introductions Wildhack is/should be a silent lame duck. Hopefully our next head coach is still coaching his current team. if not, what's the point?

I’ll admit, Hodgeson was the choice for me, for sure… but no matter who’s at fault in that case, I do want a Coach who WANTS to be at Syracuse, and realizes that they may need to be in the trenches & grind a bit when it comes to NIL resources. Not as an excuse for Syracuse to mail it in, but as a reality that we’re just not going to be at the NIL top echelon (I also hope it’s not GMac or Hop). A Coach who want to be here & know it’s gonna take some work

In the last couple of weeks, I've seen interviews with JW and Tirico where the message was that if corporate support is there and everyone gets on the same page, Syracuse can be what we all picture in our minds what the program is.

The consensus here, from people with good info, is that it's a heavy lift to raise the necessary money.

Is the heavy lift trying to raise that from a small pool or making the sale to an environment where it's not like Duke or Kentucky, and these people's identities don't depend on the success of a basketball team?

If you take away Gerry McNamara’s legend status at Syracuse he would never in a million years be even remotely considered for our job.

His offense is one of the worst in the entire NCAA. It even got worse his second year than the first. They don’t score. They don’t shoot threes. They don’t shoot free throws. They are horrid.
He got in the tourney by the skin of his teeth by beating a bunch of crap teams. I will say he did good turning Sienna around but he’s a million miles away from being a serious candidate for a big school.

I don’t know about yall but I’m tired of terrible stagnant offenses. I want an offensive minded coach who can help us score big. Shoot threes. Get to the line. Fast break points. All of it.
I know winning is winning. But let’s get some excitement back in the Dome!

I really hope Syracuse goes back to Hodgson with our higher NIL number to see if he is now interested.

If Hodgson was a true shark, he would be confident he could win at Syracuse with less than $10m NIL and the NIL amount would grow in future years after fans saw what he can do.

However, I'm guessing that the new NIL funding was given only if GMAC is the new head coach.
