Coach Search Options after Autry

What part of that post was me not speaking for myself? Blairs been here what a week. No offense but you have no idea the circumstances and what goes on behind the scenes at Syracuse in terms of the AD's office working within the parameters set by educational side of the house/chancellor etc. The people in charge an SU overall has made mistakes and probably not been as proactive as they should have been but let's also not act like were suddenly BC or Wake Forest.

SU's in this position because the entire landscape has changed and pay to play is now it for the major sports. SU's a private school with zero state funding dealing with a handful of major large donors versus dozens for the top end schools. They are spending the max amount allowed internally and have rushed resources to the fball program which will undoubtedly decide if SU is left in or out when the final conference realignment occurs over the next decade.
you realize you just argued with yourself about stuff I never mentioned and in the same wind agreed with what I said and admitted they’ve made mistakes. Thanks for the talk bud. I’m gonna pat myself onthe back like you do every time you tell someone for the 2000th time something they already knew.

If you take away Gerry McNamara’s legend status at Syracuse he would never in a million years be even remotely considered for our job.

His offense is one of the worst in the entire NCAA. It even got worse his second year than the first. They don’t score. They don’t shoot threes. They don’t shoot free throws. They are horrid.
He got in the tourney by the skin of his teeth by beating a bunch of crap teams. I will say he did good turning Sienna around but he’s a million miles away from being a serious candidate for a big school.

I don’t know about yall but I’m tired of terrible stagnant offenses. I want an offensive minded coach who can help us score big. Shoot threes. Get to the line. Fast break points. All of it.
I know winning is winning. But let’s get some excitement back in the Dome!
Yeah I agree. They were 145 in offensive efficiency! Just terrible …Syracuse was 180!

Tell that to Alabama fans who have had a ton of success playing that way. Tell that to South Florida who is in the tournament.
I’d rather have that than a 52-56 snail pace brick contest.

Personal preference I guess. Defense travels, offense is streaky, especially the Nate Oats style. Both styles can win a bunch of games.

Does anyone even know if Blair has ever met GMac? Its a new world order of SU sports and Syracuse centric thinking may be a thing of the past.
Exactly this!. Same with alot of the basketball alums pushing for Gmac. I bet there's a few dozen hoops alumni that are very outspoken for gmac but yet not giving NIL. I can think of a few that are more vocal than others.

I really am happy with BB just because he has no allegiance to them nor should he. If they want their man they better pony up the cash, maybe they will.

More NIL is a win no matter what right now.

Defense will get overwhelmed by large talent disparities. When you don't have equal talent, offense is your best chance. With our NIL we will never have equal talent.

I am 80 pages back. At this point I am sure they will hire someone before I get to the end but I am dead set on finishing this thing! This is like when you DVR a game and try to avoid catching the final score. Excited to see how it ends!
It'll be like at the end of Princess Bride when Peter Falk is reading to his grandson.

You just spent your entire post bitching about SU being behind the curve and the people charge barely having a clue. What University has nailed NIL 100% and hasn't made a mistake?

Feel free to tag the post where I am patting myself on the back for tying to respond to a post, maybe I should just be like you and go on yet another rant about how SU is clueless and were destined for failure. Do us a favor and enlighten us with what Syracuse can do to get things right, certainly you have the key to unlock multi-millions in NIL funding.

His peeps have reached out to SU, not sure what's been relayed back to them though.
I hope it was just...

The decline of Hartwick has been a conversation piece for a while, yet their leadership continues to keep it going. Valiant effort and I don't think schools like Cuse and other privates are immune from the same fate. People need to pay attention.
I believe having a funicular running from the bars to the campus would secure Hartwick's future.

That is fine you can disagree and that is the old school basketball way of thinking and I appreciate that.

Virginia under Bennett is what I’d point to. I don’t think they ever had more gifted defenders than most of the offensive talent they faced in the ACC. They were never known for having particularly gifted athletes. But his defense consistently shut teams down.

Hiring Luke Murray would give Syracuse a modern, well-connected coach who blends strong basketball pedigree with contemporary offensive thinking. As an assistant at UConn Huskies men's basketball, Murray has been part of one of the most successful and efficient programs in recent years, helping develop a dynamic offense that emphasizes spacing, shooting, and player versatility—areas where Syracuse has lagged. He also brings elite recruiting ties across the Northeast and nationally, which is critical for re-establishing Syracuse as a consistent talent destination. Beyond tactics and recruiting, His mix of youth, innovation, and exposure to championship culture makes him a compelling candidate to modernize Syracuse while still respecting its tradition.
Which is nice.

yet it was gifted offensive players that made their lone NC possible

Siena's 3 point shooting options are:

1. Brendan Coyle - Shot 40% last year and got the yips this year. Testament to G-Mac that he stuck with him and he's been shooting great the last 4 games.
2. Christian Jones/Isaiah Henderson- Two freshman at a mid-major. They don't typically play unless they are special, and they both don't play because they aren't there defensively yet.
3. Reid Ducharme - Out for the year
4. Gavin Doty - Improved his shooting percentage by 5 points YoY. Credits G-Mac for keeping his form correct. He isn't really a natural outside shooter though
5. Justus Shoats - Was never a 3 point shooter. Has a nice mid range game. You probably won't see it today as Duke will most likely swallow him up.

So yes they aren't good shooting from 3. But a lot of it is driven by personnel.
