Having GMac and BH lose today will allow teams to announce either as their head coaching choice which I'm looking forward to because this search is driving me nuts. That said, no way in hell can i root for Duke over Siena. If GMac pulled the upset, that would be the biggest upset in ncaa tournament history. How can you not root for that.

The issue people have here is we have played offense so stupidly for so long that everyone who’s against certain hires are afraid we are going to double down on the same isolation mid range 2 garbage in the halfcourt we see year after year. So while I agree defense is important a lot of the defensive first coaches mentioned absolutely stink at coaching the offensive side of the ball. Holloway immediately comes to mind.

UConn runs hardly any isolation sets hardly at all. It’s a different sport compared to what we try to do.

We can't functionally and consistently run an offense using high pick and roll. This is just like the very bare bones of what a lot of offense can be spun up by. When was the last time you saw us run sets out of horns well? Or run it at all?

And here is the other thing, this isn't football. You need to score a lot of FGs to even have a shot to win a game. Offense is much more important. You can outscore an opponent. You can't win games 12-6 and play four corners with no shot clock.

Sure, that’s two guys. You need alum that have created successful businesses making hundreds of millions of dollars, or have risen to CEO of Fortune 500 companies. Doesn’t seem like SU has produced those types of people.

I could be off on this, but I don’t see a ton of people from SU fitting those categories.

How about Greg Sankey? I heard he’s the head of big sports conglomerate. Supposed to be considered pretty powerful in that area.

We're lucky because we have also played defense so stupidly for so long too. We've had a top 100 offense four times in recent years before we get to our first top 100 defense (2018-19). A few of those years we were almost literally the worst defensive team in Division 1.

Probably the Buddy years when we were very good offensively but miserable overall because we had zero answers on defense.
