I don’t think it’s that. He substantially improved win total in year 2, won a conference championship and there were questions about whether he could coach at highest level. He proved it today.

Maybe you should all listen to the people who have watched Siena all year and stop focusing on the numbers. Gmac has had a coaching masterclass all year.

Gmac is certainly WAY better than Red by an order of magnitude, but I still think we need to pop the incest hiring bubble on the program. Incest is not healthy and we can't move forward in a truly modern capacity without doing that.

If Gerry is the next coach I am interested to see if he can get that same effort out of Kiyan and Donnie if they are both still here. The two of those guys didn’t play half as hard as anyone on Siena did today all year.

Yup it is easy to get lower level players to play their heart out but can he get the entitled players making 2 million a year to give that effort and be unselfish. That is why it is tough to rely on that stuff compared to actual systems.

Well here's how I see it playing out after this. I will stand by my prediction that BB would go with Luke Murray as 1st choice. Basically the click the button reset guy.

Here's where things get complicated. Games like this change narratives on if Gmac was or is ready and may also shake some loose change out of the couch cushions as well from donors, nostalgia and all that.

I think we will wake up with 2 scenarios tomorrow...
-LM gets the nod and we start fresh. Some NIL is committed but BB and LM work their magic to kickstart this old rusted piece of crap program.
-Some big dawgs come out of the woodwork and put the money where their mouth is. Not the usual hey we're "going to give". It's the checks are in hand. We let it play out and see if Gmac can right the ship.

The question I struggle with is do we go with LM and start him with 9-10 mil in NIL (planning for it to go up over time) or do we go with Gmac for 11-13 mil or more with pressure from the in house alumni and other big donors hiring him.

Money talks as always and the Game is the Game Always.

I’m not sure how you can put Murray above GMac. I think Murray will be a great coach, but it’s a much bigger risk than GMac at this point.

He has never done that, ever... He is in my opinion one of the greatest in game coaches ever, one of the most amazing tacticians to ever live, the Carrier Dome was built and we an amazing conference... attached to an amazing, fun university, he refused to adapt, and his strength became his weakness, Most fans have no clue, most not all. He massively lacks decorum. We can thrive here for sure to this day. The setup is ripe as you know. But I am certainly never going to rely on him knowing better ever

I haven't done a victory lap in 30 years. But I am amused. We had one poster say he was rooting for Duke today because he was worried Gerry would look good. Couple that with the poor effort by South Florida. and you get what you get.

Unfortunately for Gerry there’s going to be a lot of discussion of him being an extension of JB and Red. It’s clear he can gameplan and get a team ready.

It’s the offense that concerns fans and the want to move to a completely different system on that side of the ball. The concern is it’s a continuation of what we have seen for decades.

No. Please no. This would be settling. He needs more time and another job elsewhere at a higher level. Duke struggled against Florida State. We need a proven winner from a conference a step or two higher than the MAAC.

The reason JB commenting at all is frustrating is that JB, for all his deserved recognition, awards, etc, was also the reason:

* Was in charge for two probations
* They nuked the Hop tranisition
* At the end of his tenure, we were driving the car into a ditch
* Was apparently the reason we *had* to hire Red

Now, the dude has the right to speak. He's been lauded and held in high esteem as a basketball coach for decades, and rightfully so, but I think it's pretty easy to understand why it's frustrating to a lot of people.

They just need blunt him, without throwing him out the door because they cannot.

There is zero chance Gerry turns us down if offered. I know people said that early on but there is zero chance. For his coaching career it would be better for him to wait it out and grab us next time it opens and it will but he wont pass it up when we offer
