Well here's how I see it playing out after this. I will stand by my prediction that BB would go with Luke Murray as 1st choice. Basically the click the button reset guy.

Here's where things get complicated. Games like this change narratives on if Gmac was or is ready and may also shake some loose change out of the couch cushions as well from donors, nostalgia and all that.

I think we will wake up with 2 scenarios tomorrow...
-LM gets the nod and we start fresh. Some NIL is committed but BB and LM work their magic to kickstart this old rusted piece of crap program.
-Some big dawgs come out of the woodwork and put the money where their mouth is. Not the usual hey we're "going to give". It's the checks are in hand. We let it play out and see if Gmac can right the ship.

The question I struggle with is do we go with LM and start him with 9-10 mil in NIL (planning for it to go up over time) or do we go with Gmac for 11-13 mil or more with pressure from the in house alumni and other big donors hiring him.

Money talks as always and the Game is the Game Always.

It was a great effort for sure. Team clearly was overmatched once they became exhausted.
You are going against the tournaments 1 seed with a depleted Maac lineup and take it to the last minute………and people are criticizing Gmac…… I have heard it all now!!! But that should tell you something about these posters.

Ehhh speak for yourself. Blair has no blood in the this yet so he has nothing to be held accountable for but the rest…. Yeah i dont know. being as ignorant and behind on the entire matter going back to the start of the NIL era as theyve been That’s reluctant compliance, and reactionary, in a place that needs to be proactive. I wouldn’t call them idiots that’s unnecessary, completely uncalled for and incorrect , they’re in these positions for a reason. However, I also wouldn’t call them geniuses of their proffession and back their work here either because again, we’re in this position for a reason, not because we’re “little ole Syracuse”
I do not think that is what he stated. I could be wrong here. You were born and raised in Syracuse, Your family was born and raised in Syracuse, I could expound exponentially... and I certainly could be wrong. I for one, trust this University will literally deviate the way they used to as it relates to small community mindsets with reliance on public perception. It is literally toxic in upstate New York. Your writing, rationale is anecdotal truth as it relates to that. However once again that is anecdotal and I certainly could be wrong, In fact I hope I am for your sake. Nevertheless whether right or wrong this is a tremendous city with a great University, on a Hill. Appreciate your support, nothing but goodness right

Gerry impressed me today. I want an outsider, but he’s an upgrade. Still not sold on offense, but maybe that’s just his personnel. I wonder if Folefac would come with Doty.
I mentioned those are the two that makes sense to come. Folefac has some things to work on, but he has an aggression to him that I like.

Bias can also prevent people from making use of new information to make informed decisions. Just sayin'...

Red almost won 25 games this season. The football team almost won the ACC championship.

Welcome to Syracuse. Almost is good enough.

I get the absolute vitriol and demand we go with anyone but GMac even with BH out of the mix. I get he needs a better offensive game plan as a coach in general ( his first half today was great though). I also get he may need more time to develop and grow.

He also out coached his opponent, 1 seed, without a bench because of injuries and eligibility issues.

He was more impressive against a better opponent with less talent than one of the biggest competitors for the SU job in BH whose team fought back late but was out of the game for 36 minutes.

One game is not how this decision can easily be made but in the moment where there is the best chance to show up as a coach in front of everyone it was GMac showing up big as a coach.

So I think he deserves consideration that he can do the job as well as any other candidate and that’s a shift for me.

If Gerry is the next coach I am interested to see if he can get that same effort out of Kiyan and Donnie if they are both still here. The two of those guys didn’t play half as hard as anyone on Siena did today all year.
Exactly and I’m sure the guys who leave and the guys who stay will be very telling. GMAC is cut from a different cloth.

Southy Florida looked totally unprepared today.

This is exactly correct. I agree they were disappointing from a coaching and player perspective today. He isn't our problem so I don't care but I do agree BH was extremely disappointing his players looked ovewhelmed by the moment.

Calm down. You are making yourself look stupid. I know it's been a tough couple of days. The hero is out as our next coach. Then he craps all over himself in their first and only tournament game and then Gerry has to look good vs Duke.
Hey, you won, you get your coach. Figure'd you guys would be more magnanimous in victory. JAB still runs the show in Syracuse.

I’ll state the obvious.

Red should have been let go prior to JB’s retirement. Then it would have been so much easier to give it to GMac as successor. The school really fumbled the ball on this one. Couldn’t have done a poorer job.

I’d be fine with GMac as the next coach. At this point I really don’t care because any coach is going to be better than Red.

BH still might be or have be the best option. It's just fun to see the reaction of this board to today's games.
Yeah sure is and that's where the fun is right? Poking fun at posters on an internet message board.

Agreed, just because I don’t want Gerry doesn’t mean BH was the only option, I think there are plenty of good coaches out there.

To your point it would just have been nice to break from the JB tree, these last 10 years have been rough, would have been nice to get a fresh outlook, but that was too much to ask for.

I'm pretty much resigned to trusting that SU will do the laziest and cheapest thing, and hoping that it will still incidentally work out for us.

So, if it is GMac, are we comfortable with him retaining some of the current SU staff? Griffin? Does he bring Blackwell and AO? And then it's not just 'continuity' with GMac. It's the whole JB/alum lineage thing, where we've been discussing for years that we didn't want that. Could he be convinced to bring in O and D specialist coaches?

Pretty cool to be up on Duke double digits at the half. Pretty cool to have "out coached" Scheyer. But, yeah, it was "one game." SU looked impressive in tough games early in the season. GMac seems impressive today. What does it mean? It's all interpretation and 'creative extrapolation.'

Maybe you should all listen to the people who have watched Siena all year and stop focusing on the numbers. Gmac has had a coaching masterclass all year.
He is clearly a good coach and his team plays their asses off in a way that Cuse hasn't in years but they lost seven games in a horrible conference and beat a single top 200 team all season. At the program with the most resources in his league. Calling it a coaching masterclass is one hell of a stretch.

Groce.

Seriously, I'm not rooting for Gerry. I wanted BH and am open to new choices. I just find it amazing that people who wanted BH will not admit that his team was totally unprepared for the most important game the school has ever played. And the team they were playing was playing without one of their best players. I suspect we might have dodged a bullet here. You seem to be able to dish it out but not so good at taking it. You have been ranting in your last posts. Take a breath.

I know what you’re saying but someone who lives in the public spotlight shouldn’t call the fans stupid. He should know better.
He has never done that, ever... He is in my opinion one of the greatest in game coaches ever, one of the most amazing tacticians to ever live, the Carrier Dome was built and we an amazing conference... attached to an amazing, fun university, he refused to adapt, and his strength became his weakness, Most fans have no clue, most not all. He massively lacks decorum. We can thrive here for sure to this day. The setup is ripe as you know. But I am certainly never going to rely on him knowing better ever
