And the #1 overall seed to boot! This was the closest loss by a 16 seed to a 1 seed since 1996. (Obviously doesn't count the two 16 seeds that won)

I like Murray’s offensive acumen, but I think an assistant is a HUGE risk. It’s tough. I loved Hodgson and Martelli was my number two. After that the choices aren’t great. I don’t love fired coaches.Doty was impressive and Coach Mac did an incredible job. He meets the criteria of being passionate and able to inspire and motivate a team to play for each other. With 2 decent bench players at his disposal, this could have resulted in an upset.
The downside is the offense as others have stated. Perhaps with better skilled and athletic players he would have been more creative offensively. Again, as others have stated, he might do fine if we can get an offensive minded creative assistant. Let’s hope the new AD sees it the way we do if G Mac is the guy.
I’d still go with Murray.
I heard a few weeks ago my self that he would turn it down.I think he might. No kidding. I got that from the best possible source. You can figure that out for yourself. Of course, that was then and this is now.
You do know that just 2 years ago Siena won a total of 4 wins. 4 wins. And in just 2 years, he has them winning a league title. But man they were leading Duke at halftime come on send him the contract
Can’t retain people who were fired. Just saying.I'm pretty much resigned to trusting that SU will do the laziest and cheapest thing, and hoping that it will still incidentally work out for us.
So, if it is GMac, are we comfortable with him retaining some of the current SU staff? Griffin? Does he bring Blackwell and AO? And then it's not just 'continuity' with GMac. It's the whole JB/alum lineage thing, where we've been discussing for years that we didn't want that. Could he be convinced to bring in O and D specialist coaches?
Pretty cool to be up on Duke double digits at the half. Pretty cool to have "out coached" Scheyer. But, yeah, it was "one game." SU looked impressive in tough games early in the season. GMac seems impressive today. What does it mean? It's all interpretation and 'creative extrapolation.'
They lost by 4 points.Seriously, I'm not rooting for Gerry. I wanted BH and am open to new choices. I just find it amazing that people who wanted BH will not admit that his team was totally unprepared for the most important game the school has ever played. And the team they were playing was playing without one of their best players. I suspect we might have dodged a bullet here. You seem to be able to dish it out but not so good at taking it. You have been ranting in your last posts. Take a breath.
And it was USF’sGuys—it was their Super Bowl.

BINGO..someone that knows what they are watching.. About the only thing i think GMAC could have done better on Offense today..was i think he could run better executed in bounds along the baseline/under the basket.. a few times late when it was really close.. i thought it could have been better... some of it was player execution but i would have like to see multiple screens set and some imagination to get Doty a clean look.. I would give his overall coaching performance today an A... He did not have the players but they found a way to execute enough to make it a very close game...I have only seen Sienna today but they ran modern offense (Zoom, DHO, and Horns actions are today’s modern offensive actions) of course Red also tried to run Zoom/DHO actions but it’s obvious GMac had his guys executing in a much much better manner. Also saw good backdoor sets out of their base Zoom actions which definitely isn’t a continuation of old Cuse offenses. Not to mention how often we all complained how Red didn’t run sets for shooters like Bell & Kingz but I saw multiple sets to free up Coyoe and Doty and I missed most of first half and Duke zoned a lot in second half.
They lost by 4 points.
I'm unsure where this narrative that they were "totally unprepared" is coming from.
Not talking about Hodgson, he's not coaching here. GMAC is. What's our floor? How about getting blown out in the first half against Louisville? But the good news is that we can always pretend that we were going to be a top 5 team with 25 wins if only we would have got Hodgson. Who might just have turned us down.
Did you watch the first 30 minutes? They didn't come out ready to play. Nice comeback. But they were never really going to win. And they should have. The Vill playing without Brown plus, South Florida was pretty close to the Ville anyway. They lost by 4 points.

If he’s the choice, Red needs to give him the OKI heard a few weeks ago my self that he would turn it down.
Didnt want to come in right after Red.
Not sure if that will change now.
it was a 6 vs a 11 seed. What are you talking about that they should have won?Did you watch the first 30 minutes? They didn't come out ready to play. Nice comeback. Shouldn’t everyone play hard in the NCAA championship tournament?Don't start on that now, Phil.
2nd halves don't count.They lost by 4 points.

no unlike a syracuse team. Doty competed all game and impacted every aspect of the game. Unlike a syracuse team GMAC had his guys ready to go toe to toe with dook for the full 40. Not really anything like a syracuse team of lateI thought Gerry was going to turn us down. Lol.
Doty went 7/20 and scored 21 points. Right up our alley. And they got blown out in the 2nd half. Just like a Syracuse team.
The pick is still Hodgson, correct? Should be announced by Tuesday?
