Question- would you take PMJ with 4 million NIL or GMac with 12?
That isn't a real senerio if it is, then shame on everyone at Syracuse and all the alumni.

Big fan of Post-Modern Jukebox.Question- would you take PMJ with 4 million NIL or GMac with 12? Also how do you sell PMJ on only 4 mil or even say 6?
They also held the largest lead at half of any 16 seed ever. And Duke is statistically the best team to ever be assembled in CBB history according to KenPomTHIS. I mean goodness. People acting like this was a 7-10 game or something. This was the third-best performance by a 16 seed since 1996. (The top two being the two who won)
Has LM ever been a HC?Well here's how I see it playing out after this. I will stand by my prediction that BB would go with Luke Murray as 1st choice. Basically the click the button reset guy.
Here's where things get complicated. Games like this change narratives on if Gmac was or is ready and may also shake some loose change out of the couch cushions as well from donors, nostalgia and all that.
I think we will wake up with 2 scenarios tomorrow...
-LM gets the nod and we start fresh. Some NIL is committed but BB and LM work their magic to kickstart this old rusted piece of crap program.
-Some big dawgs come out of the woodwork and put the money where their mouth is. Not the usual hey we're "going to give". It's the checks are in hand. We let it play out and see if Gmac can right the ship.
The question I struggle with is do we go with LM and start him with 9-10 mil in NIL (planning for it to go up over time) or do we go with Gmac for 11-13 mil or more with pressure from the in house alumni and other big donors hiring him.
Money talks as always and the Game is the Game Always.
I think there were some hard feelings three years ago. They can be overcome
Why does he need more time? He’s already a proven winnerNo. Please no. This would be settling. He needs more time and another job elsewhere at a higher level. Duke struggled against Florida State. We need a proven winner from a conference a step or two higher than the MAAC.
Absolutely. What you said provided a whole lot more context than the super bowl post. We are now officially getting along. Now, let's just get everyone else to get along. Should be easy!I'm not saying it wasn't impressive.
It was. It was an impressive result.
Every other time that "Super Bowl" joke has been made in this forum, it has been received as it was intended. As a joke. Suddenly, when GMac is involved, it's a very, very sensitive matter.
Can't we all just get along?
Fair take. Alot of people want Murray who has never been a head coach. It's not like we have a ton of good options to choose from. They all have their warts. Is what it is at this point.I understand everyone’s feelings. But I’m a little leery of going with a guy who has only coached 2 years based, essentially, on the result of 2 games. If Siena lost the MAAC tournament final, we’d be talking about the 3rd place finisher in the 24th ranked league. That just doesn’t scream “hire me” to me.
The man has never been a head coach. We have seen how that can (not) work up close and personal here at SU with Hopkins and AA. Get a coach who has been a HC.Doty was impressive and Coach Mac did an incredible job. He meets the criteria of being passionate and able to inspire and motivate a team to play for each other. With 2 decent bench players at his disposal, this could have resulted in an upset.
The downside is the offense as others have stated. Perhaps with better skilled and athletic players he would have been more creative offensively. Again, as others have stated, he might do fine if we can get an offensive minded creative assistant. Let’s hope the new AD sees it the way we do if G Mac is the guy.
I’d still go with Murray.
I would love to just erase what i wrote, but someone already called No Takebacks, soooo...Absolutely. What you said provided a whole lot more context than the super bowl post. We are now officially getting along. Now, let's just get everyone else to get along. Should be easy!
And Boston College isn't in Boston, nor is it a college. And Hamilton is in Clinton while Colgate is in Hamilton, NY.
Well, is that NIL or NIL plus revenue sharing? Don't be confusing the two. You'll get mean responses.Question- would you take PMJ with 4 million NIL or GMac with 12? Also how do you sell PMJ on only 4 mil or even say 6?

No I just wrote I think the winner of the league should get more credit than they do. Maybe you didn't read that. And I must admit, I can't remember seeing too many league winning banners up. I can see final; fours or tournament wins but I will take your word for it.Well, a number of schools hang banners for finishing first in the league standings. What would you call them, participation banners?
I'm trying not to fall into that group of flipfloppers and fully admit Gmac surprised me today while BH underwhelmed.Seriously, I'm not rooting for Gerry. I wanted BH and am open to new choices. I just find it amazing that people who wanted BH will not admit that his team was totally unprepared for the most important game the school has ever played. And the team they were playing was playing without one of their best players. I suspect we might have dodged a bullet here. You seem to be able to dish it out but not so good at taking it. You have been ranting in your last posts. Take a breath.
Luke Murray has excellent body language.Fair take. Alot of people want Murray who has never been a head coach. It's not like we have a ton of good options to choose from. They all have their warts. Is what it is at this point.

I would prefer we go with Martelli or another strong outside guy but give GMAC credit for his two years at Siena. 3 win dumpster fire the year before he got there, he immediately improved them a lot in year 1 and went to the tourney in year 2 and gave Duke all they could handle. First NCAA bid for Siena in 16(?)years and first 20 win season in 10 years. Again, I want to go in another direction but he has done really good work beyond just a couple of gamesI understand everyone’s feelings. But I’m a little leery of going with a guy who has only coached 2 years based, essentially, on the result of 2 games. If Siena lost the MAAC tournament final, we’d be talking about the 3rd place finisher in the 24th ranked league. That just doesn’t scream “hire me” to me.
I had also heard, take it with a grain of salt, that he was still upset that SU never even considered hiring him when they hired Red. It is my understanding that he was flat out told Red was the hire and no one else, including him, would be considered. So, it would be understandable considering the animosity that he will get from some fans, that he would say the hell with it and just stay with Siena for next year. He has a great recruiting class coming in.First, I don't know that Gerry will get the job. Just a week or so ago, he wasn't interested. Which says something about where we are right now as a program. And it's not just he didn't want to replace Red. Which he didn't. Sadly, he thinks he can do better in another year or so. As I said, that isn't a guess. Maybe the last few days changed things. It is easier to say I'm not interested when you think someone else will get he job as opposed to someone actually offering it to you. As for next year, no matter who the coach is, how can anyone know what the floor or the ceiling is without knowing who is on the team? Who did we keep? UGH Who did we get in the portal? How do they mesh? I don't know and wouldn't even hazard a guess no matter who the next coach is until we know those things. One thing about Gerry, I think he will have more NIL available to him than any other coach we could get. Even Hop. But That may not be true either.
Essentially, yes. Merrimack can feel free to hang a banner if they'd like, but their season ended over a week ago, and Siena just took Duke to the wire.Well, a number of schools hang banners for finishing first in the league standings. What would you call them, participation banners?
Amazing how quickly things change when NIL is involved. NIL giving is fueled by "right now" emotions and mentality. This is what happened with Kyle McCord a couple years ago.Question- would you take PMJ with 4 million NIL or GMac with 12? Also how do you sell PMJ on only 4 mil or even say 6?
Outside hire with the money we had this year is a no brainer but seems that’s not the reality we are looking at, especially right this moment.
I prefer enigmas over mysteriesNobody does, it's mysterious.
They're great!Big fan of Post-Modern Jukebox.
Is it 1 game or did he win the MAC tourney and recruit very good players? The one game determining someone’s fate is why this program will remain years behind.
I’ll give him credit he had his kids loose and determined to play hard when duke was nervous and without two starters trying to figure out their offense.
I actually think it’s egregious coaching to play 5 guys the entire game. A great coach finds ways to get guys quality rests with tv time outs.
Again I’ll point out they were 145th in offense efficiency and 50th in defensive efficiency.
