Ha, was just about to type the same sentiment. This showing versus Michigan should plant the seed that he's probably reached his ceiling at St Louis. Time to move up the ladder.

Last winter I sent John Wildhack a video interview of Josh Shertz. The interview was very impressive. I told him to keep it in a file if you need a coach down the road. I hope it was an omen.

Even if it is Gerry, the boat load of NIL that will be given to him plus his albeit small but impressive track record at Siena could really translate well here. I’m not saying it’s going to be him, we really have no idea right now.

Either option comes with a bunch of pro’s.

If it's GMAC, get him an offensive master class assistant and let that assistant run a modern offense. And I would be on board...

Pair him with an up-and-comer exciting young O-coach like UCONN did with Murray...

That's my biggest worry. We need a modern offense and he'll need a good O-coach to help him build and implement that.

That would mean GMAC delegates, which I think would be GREAT for his growth as a coach and something that JB and Red couldn't/wouldn't do... I really hope GMAC sees that as an opportunity.

If not, I have doubts the Siena-style offense is gonna work well long-term in the ACC...

This is correct. This will work. If he had P4 size he can beat Michigan 100%. Michigan's size not skill will wear them down on the inside. They have blocked and altered so many shots at the rim. If STL had the size to finish and defend their size this game would be a coin flip. On top of that Michigan is playing outstanding. Schertz is different.

You put a junior or senior DC on that St Louis team and they would have a 10 point lead , maybe more .

Michigan looks like a real favorite to cut down the nets at this point ... St. louis is good but the Mich talent on the court is next level.

Michigan is playing really really well and the only difference I can see is size. This isn't a higher seed playing bad and letting a lower seed hang around. These are two great coaches and the difference is P4 size across the front line.

Just what I was thinking. This is working out perfect. Schertz will realize he needs P4 players/size if he wants to win. And the size will overwhelm them enough meaning he would have the same kind of hype to get the big schools like UNC interested.

Avila is a really good player but being outmatched in size and athleticism and equaled in skill is too much. Honestly it’s a great lesson for Schertz on what he is going to need to get it done at the next level if he came here.

Schertz. If he wins, more NIL will come. I suspect he would get NIL regardless.
