Coach Search Options after Autry

I know Duke beat Michigan earlier in the year, but they look a lot more impressive than Duke. Their size is overwhelming and their size can shoot. Michigan is really good. Just imagine a final four of Michigan, Duke, Arizona and Florida. Those four teams are all loaded.
Ngongba needs to come back for Duke. He's a big loss. Foster is a loss as well.

The more I hear from Boeheim, the more I wish he would just fully retire, move on, and stop giving his opinion on things nationally. I used to think of Boeheim as Syracuse. This may upset some here but I no longer do. Boeheim is all about Boeheim at the expense of Syracuse (if need be).

His actions over the last handful of years has clearly demonstrated this (i.e. held on to the 2-3 zone too long because it became his identity, played his sons to the detriment of the team, wouldn't retire and allow Hop to take over as promised, hasn't really supported his assistants like Hop Or GMac when coaching at other schools, had is player favorites over playing the better player, and the list goes on).

Nate Oats

Yup- probably many who never watched the Dean Smith UNC teams on this board as more younger fans have joined but those teams like Roy’s teams loved to get up and down for 40 mins. That’s exactly what Nate wants to do and does at Bama. It’s the ideal fit aside from it not being a UNC guy.

Dude barely showed up to games for Autry. It’s messed up. You saw Coach K and Roy supporting there assistants nearly every game.

As was brought up during the broadcast of the St. Louis Game, can Schertz find another big like Cream Adbul Jabar? I’ve only known Schertz’s system with him, and bigs like that aren’t terribly common.

Anyone have insight on his system pre Aliva? Are we sure he didn’t catch lightening in a bottle with him in that system?

Gerry actually used Mulvey in a number of similar sets against Duke as well. You don’t have to use your 5 man to run that offense it’s more about the skillset than the position itself. He does a lot of different things with that offense.

Honestly you could easily plug Donnie into that role for example.

That last part is a stretch. I think Donnie is much better than he’s shown, but would question his decision making based on what I saw this past season.

So the skillset is there and he showed ability as a passer early on. He just needs to actually have a good coach who demands more out of him and knows how to teach and coach offense. I’m not advocating he return just saying you don’t have to have an Avila clone in the SLU offense.
