You should start advocating for Chris Beard, then! Really good coach in a bad spot at Ole Miss - I bet he’d be interested in moving to a better situation at SU…

If the donors are only willing to give more money if its for GMac then they are morons. Not a point against GMAC, just that donors are being specific for a coach who has objectively achieved less... but more so the fact they are not making money available for any coach. Its their right and their money, but I can still call it out as flawed.

If its donors that are leading to this poor decision, than perhaps its time for me to stick even more with pro sports. Where decisions are at least made by coaches, GM's and owners... sometimes poor but that is another point.

They were reportedly going to interview Hurley, and Young's name has been brought up as there possibly being mutual interest.

I say all the time that the more college sports heads off the cliff of unrestrained NIL, conference realignment and competitive imbalance, the more I enjoy pro sports.

Hopefully if we hire GMac he has incredible success and we go to Final Fours and win natties and he rides off into the sunset in 25-30 years.

But if not, and we're back in here in 3 years with the same people telling us we have to keep it in the family because they bleed Orange and have passion and will be cheaper, I'm gonna lose my mind.

It’s not an accomplishment though, a close loss is never an accomplishment. Gerry has done some good things, stuff you can point to and say “see there’s something there” but it should never be a LOSS that excites people

People spend money on vibes all day every day.

Don’t forget with the donors it’s not just that they’re thinking of gmac. I assume every former player and coach including the biggest ones are also all in on gmac.

So if you want to go a different way then you’re up against sort of a mob mentality as well.

I hope BB makes the best call.

I mean, yeah. But the reality of now is the reality of now.

I'm fine with the reality of the amount of donor's money is what will make teams more / or less competitive in this day and age in college basketball.

And I would be fine, if we were restricted in who we could attract because of our financial/NIL situation, and this led to a lower tier hire. But that does not appear to be 100% of the case.

We have a situation where donors are waving bucks at a candidate, and then taking it away from others with more progressive experience. It's what it is, fine. But I can also call it out for being BLEEPED in the head.
