Agree on all of this though Gmac may still take the job if offered, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s not thrilled knowing he’s a fall back option. I can’t see an AD being comfortable not being able to actually make the decision on what could be the most important hire of his career. If he’d not allowed to I definitely don’t think he stays long which would be unfortunate he seems like the right guy to navigate the current landscape of college athleticsI trust JB from 15 years ago, not now. Decision alone should be BB. If he hires Gmac because he’s the best coach then fine, but otherwise he should butt out. If this mess is going on and I was Gmac why would I want this job if I know I’m not the top candidate. It’s a mess. If BB can’t make his own decisions I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves in a year.
