Comparing ourselves to BC and Tech…..Really got an interview BC GTech. But he wants more. Come home.

Not for anything but why would anyone care who Mookie wants? lolDoesn’t help Devo & Mookie are also in heavy agreement that Gmac should be the head coach. Oh and Juli & Jim.
Schertz or anyone outside never really stood a chance thanks to all these gatekeeping clowns.
Least Gerry will have a ton of money to work with
It depends on the context of how he's passed over. If they back out of a verbal agreement with him, that may be a deal breaker for the rest of his career, and is obviously a really bad look. If they get a candidate that is a hot commodity, it probably won't be a deal-breaker if Gerry is at a mid-major or a school like BC if and when he gets the call again. But yeah, they obviously need to tread carefully with how they're maintaining the relationship. If passed over again, I highly doubt he’d consider SU at anytime in the future. Them man’s not a side piece you can go to whenever you need him.
I can only react to what we've seen in his press conferences and what the SU administration has said, but I get the distinct impression that his number one job is to get the money train going at a high level. It looks more like a marketing job than actually being a singular decision maker when it comes to the athletic side. Probably an over simplification, but that's what it seems to me as an outsider.Agree on all of this though Gmac may still take the job if offered, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s not thrilled knowing he’s a fall back option. I can’t see an AD being comfortable not being able to actually make the decision on what could be the most important hire of his career. If he’d not allowed to I definitely don’t think he stays long which would be unfortunate he seems like the right guy to navigate the current landscape of college athletics
The Syracuse way hasn’t worked for the past ten years. Get over it and let’s move on.The one thing I cannot stand that’s percolating through former players, Julie, etc - is the notion of keeping it in the family or that there’s a “Syracuse way”
There’s only been JAB and then we kept it in the family and it sucked.
There’s no “this is how we do it” … the one time we did it the way they are advocating, it got us here
I’m all in on getting the best available HC (and maybe that’s Gerry) but can we please dispense with the JAB ego propping
At that time, the team was listening to Red and going all out on defense and playing tough.Houston already has 10 offensive rebounds tonight. How in the world did we contend with them in Vegas
I’m more inclined to see a correlation between Mc/Mac sur names and success here than JAB keep it in the family nonsenseThe Syracuse way hasn’t worked for the past ten years. Get over it and let’s move on.
Weird?Don’t know the reason, but rumor is he wants out of Vandy
The reality is that “keeping it in the family” led to Hopkins getting misled and ultimately leaving and Autry getting the HC gig when he was grossly underqualified for it.The one thing I cannot stand that’s percolating through former players, Julie, etc - is the notion of keeping it in the family or that there’s a “Syracuse way”

Syracuse held hostage: Day 11.
I'm going to start a fake twitter handle and post some rumors.
What are the tangible qualities that Gmac has that would make him a top candidate? I keep repeatedly hearing things like, “He BLEEDS Orange,” “He’ll work harder than anyone,” and “no one’s tougher.” It’s all a bunch of intangible nonsense. As a contrast, here’s a deep dive analysis on Schertz’s offense, which I’m sure many of you have seen or read.
I'm really glad we brought in BB. He's like 40, I'm Gmac's age at 42-43. Boeheim is 81, that's up there. BB and JB is 40 years difference. When it was Kent and JW in they're in their late 60's it was still only a dozenish years difference with JB.I think Blair does not want Gerry because he is trying get boeheim out of the picture. In the end if Gerry does not get the job it’s due to boehejm being a pain and trying to have control.
Totally agree, this issue will be how much of the big money is tied to JB supporters vs those willing to follow what the AD wants.I'm really glad we brought in BB. Just saying 40 years age difference is alot. I take everything I hear from an 80 year old with a grain of salt and I assume he is too.
It’s like friggin groundhogs day around here (he says on the push to 1000!), same exact posts/debates/discussions, same shite different pages/posts. Including this post as I see now! Lol
It’s like we’re all working in shifts around here, workin it, taking a break for a while and now here comes the night shift with this occurring!

Turns out Hopkins was also grossly unqualified to be a HC. Of the 3, it seems Gerry is the most prepared. The reality is that “keeping it in the family” led to Hopkins getting misled and ultimately leaving and Autry getting the HC gig when he was grossly underqualified for it.
The reality is that JAB didn’t really do a great job of developing a coaching tree to realistically lean on for this “in the family” concept. Outside of Pitino, which was 50 years ago, the guys that got to move on to head coaching were average to mediocre if at all. The one guy who he really groomed for a transition was screwed over by not wanting to let go and led him (Hopkins) to seek a power conference HC gig practically on the moon which led to his demise.
At the end of the day, it’s all about control and ego. And if he wanted to have that level of control post retirement, maybe he should have focused a little harder on succession planning.
We need the best candidate for the job. Period. Enough with the nonsense.
