Class of 2015 Coaches/FB Calendar

Imagine the conversations this week.

"You used to coach at Syracuse? Really? What position?"

Great Day. Great talk with Kevin Johnson about the history of Cuse Football. Winning the Days

yes, the bears have OTAs this week in Lake Forest (Halas Hall).

That's where they shot the Ferris Ferrari in the ravine scene. Director John Hughes used to live there.

Today starts the Quiet Period or "the mountain must come to Mohammad."

Quiet Period:
During this time a college coach cannot watch you compete at any location. It is allowed for the college coach to make in-person contact with you or your legal guardians if it occurs on the coach's campus. The coach can still make telephone calls to you or your legal guardians, and you can make visits to college campuses during this time.

Kinda weird the quiet period starts the same day as camps get going

I think that's the point isn't it? Can't go visit kids on their own turf, therefore get them to come to you, and tryout at your camp to boot!

So as someone going through the process, do you appreciate the idea of a quiet period ( I know it just started) or would you rather just keep the process going until Shy finalizes his decision by giving a commitment?

Yeah thats exactly my point. They cant have a quarter back throw a ball at a visit and cant have him throw a ball when they come to the school to visit a coach...but they can during the "quiet period" have them come to a camp and have them run every drill and workout they have. I like the idea of a quiet period i just think its crazy to have it during the summer or camp season...maybe the quiet period should be while the kids are focusing on school. I would like to see a alot of the rules they have in place change. its very confusing for kids and has to many loop holes so the schools can still do what they want.

So if I am reading you right, in theory a quiet period would be great ( especially if it came during a time the kids could be in the classroom worrying about their studies.) but as it is, it's essentially non-existent, therefore you might as well do away with it if you aren't going to fix it?

Exactly

Exactly

Since I have no idea... Is there some sort of advisory board that parents of recruits/past recruits can get involved in to share their opinions of how the system currently works, and ways that it could be improved to make things go more smoothly for the kids?

If so, not to put any more on your plate Bam, but you have some very strong opinions, and some good ideas that those implementing/governing the process should hear, or at least be exposed too.

I'm not sure I think they must have something but with all their other issues at the moment are probably not even looking at recruiting changes

This is probably true, but if the voices calling for change are loud enough, and obnoxious enough they won't have a choice but to listen.

Not sure how big a PITA you are willing to be of course...
