Coaching Candidates (My List)

Why would Hodgson sign an extension now when he must know big schools will be coming after him?
Most big schools can afford a $1 million buyout but besides guaranteeing himself money in case this season goes bad I dont understand it.
Its so that Ark St can pocket the $1M when they know Hoge is looking to move up. Don’t want to let him leave for nothing.

To get him to SU it would probably cost $7 million in buyout money. We owe Red three more years plus his buyout. That’s not happening at SU unless someone on this board has some loose change in their sofa:)

Melo money

And on the real side of things if Red got a real 5-year contract with no outs and a 6 million dollar buyout when he has never had another P4 head coaching job or even a P4 job interview should ALSO BE FIRED. What a terrible contract if true.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing that.

That deal structure would be egregious malpractice and moronic for a 1st-time HC legacy hire at a struggling program.

Heck, if that's true, we deserve to be an irrelevant, no-count program.

I would bet he received a five year contract at about $2 million a year. You will have to pay him for his final three years. You might not have to play him all at once, but it’s still real money. I doubt his agent would take anything less.

He knows Red is coming back, so he bides his time for another year and triples his salary in the meantime.

5-year contract for a first-time head coach with no real competitors for his service? That seems a bit much. I am not saying he didn't get that but that is a terrible business move by whoever signed off on that again if true.

Thinking the same thing. JW needs to be fired if that's the golden parachute he rewarded Red with? IMO I think he needs to be head of fundraising and hire real AD

LOL!

Syracuse plays Arkansas State, who wins?
Ark St would push us around & play tough ~old school Pitt~ and bc we are so soft we would get frustrated and cry about fouls. We lose.
Bryans mentor even called us out as really soft to the media. So JB had a hissy fit and said Oats would not be welcomed back in the Dome again.
Bryan Hodgson is our guy and if he ends up in Miami I will be disappointed.
Another northern coach that would love to coach SU gone south bc we are stubborn or insert your own adjective.

But deep down I pray I am wrong and Autry pulls a miracle, not holding my breath.

No way that is true

Based on the buyout just announced, I seriously doubt we'd ever be in for him at this point.

We don’t owe Red three more years. The buyout $$ is if you let him go before his contract is up.

There’s no way that’s true. If it was, then I think we should have walked away and not hired him. He was totally unproven.

Agree unfortunately...and this is just my opinion here but Hoge sure seems like the right guy ànd far in front of 2nd place. Maybe Gmac in 3 years?
Like I said, I pray Autry can get it going and possibly the early obstacles for him were just too much for most coaches. Who knows?
The program was driven into the ground and to get back to where we need to be...things needed to be drastically changed. No pain no gain.
I hope most of us are just wrông about him in the long run, its possible.
Autry appears to be very frustrated, maybe even disappointed in his players.
This team just might not be very coachable...or...the group of senior transfers that came in is not a good mix. Maybe their attitudes behind the scenes brings the team down. Possibly Autry will learn a great deal from these past 2 years coupled with witnessing all the mistakes & good decisions JB made. Possibly Autry IS in over his head like it appears but it wouldn't shock me if hes not. Ive seén many things that were way more shocking.
None of us truly know unless you go to every practice, every class the players go to and are roommates with them.

Whatever? Next year we will learn alot.
Until then I am praying for Autry and if I was ADJW Id be starting or continuing a solid relationship with Hoge.

wow them edibles i forgot i toôk 1 at 3:30.

Well, if you get rid of him with three years left on his contract you owe him for three years.

Re: Miami. That job has the advantage of being located in south Florida if you like beach weather 365. But that’s about it. There’s not much else. The fan base is small and blah, even when they’re good. It’s a pro sports town, if it’s even a sports town at all. Cuse is a high ceiling job because we are essentially the upstate NY pro team, and when we’re good, the Dome is full and rockin and our gaye revenue can skyrocket. That’s never gonna happen at Miami. And most of their NIL focus is on football now.

Why? We can’t afford $1 million? I don’t believe that for a second.

Autry clearly can't motivate his players to play hard like you have to to win games. After recruiting, this is the most important aspect of coaching. It's pretty clear the players don't give a s#it.
