Lakers opened tonight in an exhibition game and Cole started the 3rd quarter and he just hit his first shot attempt. A 3 pointer of course.

Horses for courses. Was not a meaningful contributor for Jay Wright. JB thought he was a star and let him play like one.
A guy like Paul Harris struggled much of the time here, but may have flourished in a program like Pitt.

He was also -30 during his time on the floor. No stats except shooting. Zero rebounds, steals, assists, or blocks in 19 minutes. I can just hear JB say I had as many rebounds as Cole tonight.

Cole was the only sub that could shoot. 2nd half both teams played mostly subs and the Kings wiped the floor with the Laker subs. Cole was the only sub that shot over 40% overall and taking out Cole’s 2-4 on 3’s, the rest of the subs shot 2-16 from 3. He’s gonna get some opportunities just because the others don’t look like good shooters. LeBron was even 0-7. Lakers are in trouble this season.

second leading scorer in a preseason game for the Lakers - a game in which Davis, James and Westbrook played! -...1st half of last season...that idea seemed impossible......

too early to say it definitively means a whole lot...But it is a great sign...

I called it 2nd half of last season on this forum that he is NBA caliber and was roundly dismissed - looks like I was right. He's going to play in the NBA this year.

Scoring 14 points a game with 8 rebounds and making All Conference does not meet the definition of struggling.

In their second unit he gives a scoring element. Doesn't look like a deep bench so could see him getting looks to add shooting with the first unit. Last night he was efficient and did what you want from a specialist in his first real NBA game. Cole isn't a kid who goes backwards. Bad game or two? Sure. But he learns and gets better. Couldn't ask for a better start forget the -30. Lakers had a lot of those kind of games last year.

Swider played 5 mins in the 1st qtr. Has 2 points 2 rebs. His basket was an offensive rebound put back. Missed both 3 pointers.

Last night's game, on offense Cole just ran to a corner during each possession. He has to move and try to do more. Granted, he didn't always shoot and moved the ball well, but you can't just play zone offense. He had a couple rebounds so he is doing more than just scoring.

Cole ended up playing 23 mins last night. Unfortunately he missed all 5 of his 3’s and finished with just the 2 pts. He did have 5 rebs, 2 stls and 2 blocks.
