Dwight Jason Freeney was born February 19, 1980 Hartford, Connecticut.

In high school, Freeney lettered in four sports: Baseball, basketball, football and soccer his freshman year before he played football. Freeney currently holds the record for sacks at his high school and most sacks in a high school career in the Connecticut record book, according to Wikipedia.

Freeney would attend Syracuse University from 1998-2001. He was a two-year starter, and his 34 sacks for a career rank second in school history. His senior season, he had 17.5 sacks to set a school record and become a unanimous All-American.

The Indianapolis Colts selected Freeney with the 11th overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft, and right from the start he blossomed into an NFL star. His first season he forced an NFL rookie record 9 fumbles. By the end of his third season he was the third fastest player ever to 40 sacks.
