Collins backers can’t be serious. Clown show.

Angeli is clearly better.

Collins is still the best backup we have had in years
You're not saying we have the deepest QB room in years are you?! Cuz I am always here for that!

Seriously, he's maybe the best backup we've had since 2021 when Schraeder was on the bench behind DeVito. We'll see. Honestly, I hope we don't need to find out.

Yeah, I think at this point forward, we don't want to see Collins, because the likelihood he's in for a bad reason (Angeli gets hurt, we get blown out, etc.) is much higher than he's in a for a good reason (we're blowing some other team out).

Against UCONN and Colgate, brah.

BUT BUT UCONN IS A GOOD TEAM. lol k

Colgate is a bad FCS team. A very bad FCS team.

You’re lying to yourself and that’s okay. It’s part of the deal.
not sure how good colgate is but they hung with two top 20 FCS teams so they are not a very bad team

Understood. Good post, was really just busting balls. He’s probably going to be fine but expecting Collins to come in and just be clearly better than Angeli was just ridiculous, absurd really

Yeah -- very clear why Angeli won the job now that we've seen both play.

Even more crazy [IMO] is that there were some posters who expressed that they weren't in favor of us recruiting Angeli last spring because of how it might impact Jakhari Williams...

Im guessing that if anyone says that in the middle of the 4th quarter last week they weren’t thinking, just for a second, mayyyyybe the QB may need switching up that they’re lying.
I manifested Angeli and even I thought he looked rattled from the hits and was ready to see if Collins could spark something.

Took 60 seconds to figure that out. Pretty clear to see why Angeli got the gig.
It is clear Angeli is the better QB but I like it when a pulled Collin's got a second chance and drove them 90+ yards after his INT. With our offensive line, you can't expect Angeli to not get dinged up. That was a confidence booster that is our #1 comes out he can have a little confidence going in there. But grading for offense was a B+, too many dropped passes, I counted at least 4, and got to take care of the ball with 2 more fumbles losing 1. I like the true freshmen RB, like to see more of him. (22?) My biggest concern is our defensive/offensive lines. They played better against TN than they did against UConn and Colgate.

22 is Hart and I'm pretty sure he's a redshirt freshman, not a true freshman.

In fairness, Fran made it seem like these guys were neck and neck all summer. Now, I suspect Fran wasn’t being truthful, but that was how he characterized things.

I get it though. You want to keep Collins' confidence up as best you can, because he is one play away.

But yeah, there's a reason we went out and got Angeli. It's not that Collins is bad, it's just that he wasn't ready yet.

Nixon calls a pass heavy game when Angeli is in. If he's forced to go to Collins against one of the many good teams we have left, I would imagine that would change quite drastically.

I thought the knee-jerk reactions to put Collins in last week were beyond stupid. But I don’t think knocking Rickie when he finally saw some time is productive. It’s clear Steve is well ahead of him and that’s why he’s Fran’s guy even when he has a rough half.

I don’t trust any qb until they show what they can do on the field during a game. Been way too many reports over the years of so many QB’s being talented but actually we’re not very good at all.

Like Madei Williams killing it it practice but got yips and brain freeze in real games

Collin’s showed a good deal of character when following the poorly played series, benching, then coming back, marched the team down the field and threw a TD. He started the next drive with a solid run and was sidelined because he lost his helmet. He appears to have some fine qualities and if he allows himself to be coached up, he can be a good QB after Angeli leaves.

Whether Carney passes him up remains to be seen, but it is nice to have better back ups at QB than we have had in a while.
did anybody think anything of Carney as 3rd stringer ahead of Jakhari Williams. Did the true freshman jump him?

What people seem to not mention is that Kyle McCord was on campus early last year making spring practice. Steve Angeli wasn’t even on SU’s campus for spring practice having participated and not making his decision to attend SU until after Notre Dame’s spring practice. I would think that makes quite a difference experience wise acclimating to SU, learning the playbook and getting to establish chemistry with teammates. He’s made a very good transition so far considering the crucial position he plays at QB.

Not true.

I understand Syracuse offered more than Penn St., but people will believe what they want to believe.
If that is true, that is a major slap in the face to Fran. One of your own, who has been here for years, leaves for less money?

I may be misremembering but wasn't it reported that Fran told him to transfer when Pena told him on the field after practice that he had a better offer and wanted more nil?

It’s been said before, but I’ll say it again.

This move wasn’t about the money
