Check out the Atlantic 10. Heard their commissioner talking about their conference setup on radio. They are playing their entire tournament for their mens teams a week early, but holding off the conference championship game until the date it was normally scheduled to be played. They essentially swapped the weeks the men and women play to achieve this.
They talked about it with their broadcast partners first. They were okay with moving things up as long as the championship game was played as scheduled. They were really worried about COVID and wanted time to isolate the teams in the championship game to ensure everyone was healthy. Also positions the teams going on to post season play to give them the best chance possible to be healthy when post season play starts.
Atlantic 10 men's, women's basketball tournaments swap dates
The Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament is moving up one week, and the majority of the event will now be held March 3-6 -- with the title game still on March 14. The women's tournament is being pushed back to March 10-14.
