GMAC and Siena are going to the NCAAT!

He should not stay at Siena. He should move up to Big East, A-10, or American if he can. He has to progress and show he can move up and continue success
He can stay and be fine. They have the PG from Chittenango coming in with a more well rounded roster. Let’s not forget Hurley waited multiple years before UConn came open and he jumped at it.

I think that wouldn't be a good move. He has to move IMO. I think he will stay but I think he should move.

Yeah the Curry Hicks Sage guy mentioned how March is a drug for those going through search season. GMAC Siena run through the MAAC is a troubling drug for Syracuse right now. It’s going to be very difficult to pass on it….
!
I was rooting for Gmac and Siena tonight, but I just have a feeling with every win they get, Gmac will start leading the hc search over Hodgson
Vomit! No Cuse/JB alums.

Yep, I mean it’s become a no-brainer. Look at the facts. Seven players in the active roster, and he still accomplished what they just did.

Kids entire life he has been a winner. Now he’s mature and know longer a kid as that post game interview showed.

He would go to the ends of the Earth, working his arse off to make this place a winner again, some people have the “it” quality, this kid has “it” in spades

It has become a no-brainer
Yeah, I agree, he does have "it." I said in another thread that he has a competitive fire that other coaches don't seem to have.

You guys have lost your minds.
I’m with you Phil. At least the guy above was like it’s stupid to decide a coach base on one game and admitted it doesn’t make sense.

Hell I would’ve voted for Devendorf for president after the 6OT game at the garden.

The best candidate needs to get the job, what they did as a player 20 years ago or what they did not do when they were a coach has to matter.

Fun game to watch, but that level of play is way below what we saw today at the ACC Tournament. You’re dealing with different kind of players who have NBA aspirations. There was not a pro on the floor tonight. Not even close. Different egos, agents and NIL to deal with at Power Four schools. Gerry can coach, but he needs some experience leading a program at a higher level. The worst thing he could do is rush to the next level. He’s working with kids who are playing for the love of the game and not for how much money they can make. I hope Gerry stays right where he is for a little longer.
Very reasonable take. I’m torn because I do think Gerry is the real deal as a coach, but Hodgson is more ready at this time and also the real deal. Hodgson just has higher level experience and wins at a higher level. GMAC should try to move up to a conference and program in a similar position as Siena and see what he can do there. Revisit this in 5 years. Perhaps GMAC moves up to the Power Conferences and not at Cuse because Hodgson has the program doing great things again in 5 years time. Perhaps a Roy Williams type move becomes possible in 10-15 years. For now, I’m so proud of GMAC!

This is why I was hoping he was going to be named the successor to JB. GMac has that competitive fire in him and I think that's something a coach needs to have and now we see he also knows how to instill that fire into his players. It's the factor that Red just seemed to lack as a head coach.

People just need to look at the Net Rankings.

USF 49
Cuse 83
Siena 189

Gerry is doing great, and we all love him, but he really needs more experience and further success to guarantee he would be successful in the ACC. Can anyone guarantee that Gerry could bring Cuse to the promise land?

Great post game interview!
Did Bonnie Bernstein ask him about the SU job?

Sorry, forced to remember happier days when Droopy Williams said, “I could give a Shhh about North Carolina” 1-2 days before he accepted the job.

Gerry has won everywhere he goes

Net rankings don’t mean anything he proved he can resurrect a program. He assembled his own players and most importantly COACH them. I didn’t want another SU player as head coach but this has all the makings of a reunion. We will see if the stars align. Im in. Take my chips.

Incredibly proud of Gerry and the whole team
And Doty is incredible.
I remember an interview Gerry had last year, early in his first season.
He talked how important it was for him to sign Doty.
How he knew this kid was the leader his team needed, that he knew he could be one of the best in the league, how he had this incredible work ethic, always wanted to improve, never wanted to lose.
Doty showed all of that in this game.
Not only does he understand the X’s and O’s, he understands how impressive leadership and fight are to a successful team.

I doubt GMAC leaves Siena this year.

I can actually be interested in Selection Sunday again

He would go to the ends of the Earth, working his arse off to make this place a winner again with the emotion/connection/history and legacy associated with it all, some people have the “it” quality, this guy obviously has “it” in spades

It has become a no-brainer. MAKE. IT. HAPPEN SYRACUSE.
“Kids entire life he has been a winner.”
How does this make you qualified for a head coaching job? Lots of guys who were winners became losers as head coaches. Give me a break. Also, “working hard and going to the ends of the earth?” Every P5 coach should be working hard. Red worked hard—and he still stunk.

What makes him qualified is in year one he improved Siena’s win total by 10. Year two he improved on year one by 9 wins and a conference championship. Oh and he did all of this with seven scholarship players. He also has that determination and drive that is not seen in many people. I’m so tired of the lame ass excuse not to hire him because we need to get away from Boeheim shadow. He needs to be seriously looked at and hired cause he has proven he’s a man of his word and WILL turn this train wreck of a program around.
