In his first year of eligibility Harrison has made the cut in the final 15 names eligible. His competition at the WR position are Tim Brown and Andre Reid. If there is any justice Harrison gets in over Brown who hijacked the Heisman from Don Mcpherson in 1987. Anyway Good luck to him I think its fifty/fifty he makes it this time but I think for sure he makes it eventually.

If/when he gets in, I cannot wait to hear his acceptance speech. Over/under on length? I say 20 seconds. Something like "Ummm...wow...I would like to thank...damn, just give me the freaking trophy...what? It is a bust? And, it stays here? What do I get? This off yellow jacket? **k, where my gun at?"

50/50? Are you serious? The guy has been in the discussion as the next greatest wr of all time behind Rice his whole career.

Marvin was like a Denny's - always open. Probably a favorite of JB's.

Doesn't matter... can't but help the program in many ways...

I hour he gets in and think he should, but I'm not sure if it is a slam dunk. I wonder if any of the voters will take into consideration the perception that there may have been involvement in that murder.

The NFL HOF is weird - didn't Cris Carter not get in the first time around?

I still hate Tim Brown and the ND hype machine for their thievery. Had McPherson played in the current era where the qb is the only viable Heisman candidate he would have brought the hardware home. And screw you too, Pat Dye!
Couldn't have said it better myself.

He was the best WR of his era.

He's unquestionably one of the all-time greats, but I'm hesitant to put him ahead of Moss and Owens as best of his era.

for whatever reason over the last several years there have been several great WR waiting to get in. Gotta question whether Marvin will be left out for awhile for the lack of media love from him.

He will get in eventually. I would honestly be a little stunned if he gets in this year, however.

Does he deserve to be in the HOF? No question about it. But he was incredibly anti-media when he played, and he had some big time issues off the field, obviously, at the end of his career. Those two things have to factor in. He's one of the best receivers to ever play the game, but the personality and off the field stuff will rub a lot of voters the wrong way. I bet it'll be at least 3-5 years before he gets in.

I'll also be thrilled if I'm wrong, because he's one of my favorite players of all-time, in terms of on the field stuff.

Was one of my favorite players to watch. In the era of the prima donna wide receiver, Harrison ran clean routes, caught everything, and rarely made a sound. That Colts offense with Peyton, Marvin, Reggie Wayne, Edgerrin James, and Dallas Clark was incredible. Always found myself rooting for that Colts team because of Harrison and Freeney.

If OJ is allowed to stay in the Hall then Marvin should be a first ballot.

"Do you think it was a bigger feat to break 2,000 yards in one season or slice two necks in one night?"

Harrison is a LOCK to get in. If he doesn't get in this year its a crime!

Moss will get in the HOF. Owens might not just because of how he acted and behaved

Harrison 128 TD's, 14,580 yards (13 years)
Brown 100 TD's, 14,934 yards (17 years)
Reed 87 TD's, 13,198 (16 years)

Harrison has more TD's and Yards in fewer seasons than Brown and Reed. It's not even close Harrison is a LOCK HOF WR. And almost a LOCK to get in this year. Now bring in Moss and Owens and the numbers still hold up but Moss and Owens have elite numbers no doubt...

Randy Moss 156 TD's 15,292 yards (16 years)
Terrell Owens 153 TD's, 15, 934 yards (15 years)

More personal behavior for Irvin off the field and personal demons he dealt with. With Owens it was outing players as gay, and sabotaging his actual team and teammates in season. Little different in my eyes

I'm not hesitant at all.

He was dynamite every year.

There was no BS in his career - he was always open and caught a lot of passes every year.

He should and will get in. When I compare him to Owens and Moss and it is laughable, He was a machine. Always open, catch after catch after catch. Dude was the real deal...

In the MLB HOF, character on and off the field are important issues. In the NFL HOF, on field performance is supposed to be the only consideration. Lawrence Taylor*, Michael Irvin and others are in in spite of their serious character flaws. Harrison should easily get in, maybe not this year, but definitely in.

* I am a Giants fan and I loved watching LT play, even though I always suspected that he was strung out on coke - powder, not beverage.
