Cooney

A little more up and a bit less out. Looks like a symptom of getting his legs under and into it.

Whatever he's doing it's making him way more consistent. No more ducks getting thrown up.

He sucks. D 3 guard. If that is indeed true, let's go out and get a whole bunch of d-2 guards

yeah, i'm guessing we wont hear from those guys tonight.

anyway, surprisingly FSU played TC straight up tonight and he smoked them. this is why TC, for the last 2 years, has been the focus of most teams game plans.

NO! NO!
DEFENSES NEVER DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT TO TAKE AWAY COONEY!!!! HE JUST SUCKS!!!!

Feet set, not fading away, jumping and landing in the same spot. Basic shooting.

I actually think it is more basic even than those things. Ever since the Louisiana Tech game, he's handled the ball a lot more. Which has in turn helped him get more in the game flow, and created easier scoring opportunities for him.

And since that line in the sand game--he's transformed.

I know Hamilton has a good rep, but man, he opted to play both TC and Rak straight up and, for the most part, did not play a lot of ball pressure. That's probably the complete opposite way to game plan for SU.

And his handle is pretty damn good from what we have seen.

The deal with Cooney is this: He is a tremendous basketball player and he us under rated by some of the people around these here parts. You can only keep a player of his ability down for so long and he is going to erupt with a game like tonight. He is also proving that he is so much more than just a 3 point specialist. He is putting the ball on the floor and driving to the basket, he is making the opposition commit a lot of effort at containing him all while providing leadership on a team that sorely has needed it.

What's funny is that before the VT or GT game (can't remember which) one station had a pregame segment and they showed a clip of a VT/GT practice and the clip was of the coach talking to the team about defending Cooney.

What's funny is that posters here will tell you this never happens and then expect to be taken seriously.

He got more open looks tonight than he's had in the last few games combined, and he made them. Not ticket science. But he is making more "challenged" 3s as of late. Two tonight were straight up ridiculous.

As far as forcing shots...given our options now, I say force away.

Looks a lot better, just wish he wouldn't force shots so often.

What shots has he been forcing? His midrange jumpers have been on point, contested or not, and his 3pt shooting has been great. The only shots he misses are contested layups.

Rak was getting triple teamed and facing a lot of ball denial. I think they did a great job gameplanning for him.

I have no issue with Trevor or rak forcing things
