Cooney

Definitely some shaky potatoes out there last night.

'
Hmm. He shot 9-16 overall (over 56%), 7 for 11 from 3 (64%) and is shooting 39% from 3 for the season. He leads the team in steals and has the lowest number of turnovers for the season for the starters. I keep wondering how many girlfriends Trevor must have stolen for some people to search for things to rag/criticize him for. You are right he didn't shoot 100% and isn't perfect.
Cherie: I was going to post something similar, but you really said it all. :)

Note that, since the LaTech game, he's shooting 46.7% from three.

(How funny, that's the entire 9 game span I just factored and that's the game you mentioned as the start of his turnaround)
over the last 8 games, Silent G is hitting an insane .636 (14 for 22) from three, and has dropped at least one in 7 straight games.

having two legit threats helps immensely

If only he could get his FT shooting up to mid 60's . . . .

G has been on fire and he gets wide open looks because of Cooney and Rak. In turn as he's made them Rak and Cooney have more room.

Agreed. And I don't think people are paying enough attention to how much their improved performance has helped Rak stay so consistent. You can't double down off of either guy at this point, so Rak is given that much more space to work in the post.

yep . . . it's the 'gravity' concept in action

And why aren't we questioning G's ability to finish, or at least his decision making process when he is trying to finish. Got blocked badly on one dunk attempt and blew an easy layup yesterday when the lane opened wide for him. He should have dunked that one but questioned himself and changed his mind mid air and missed the finger roll because he went too strong.

Because he has been very good on these in his last 7 games. I hope this was an anomaly. The block was simply a great play by FSU but your right he got caught in between on that other layin and in that situation when you should be burning clock you have to make that layup if you take it.

Love Cooney, his game, his importance to the team and really dislike how people have been so negative and critical - it's been unfair. What people seem to forget is that this is a team. When other players step up , the floor spreads , defenses stay honest and other players get more room to produce. What's overlooked is each players effect on their teammates. In this past 6 game win streak Trevor has averaged 17.5 points and Mike Gbinije has averaged 13.3 points. Trevor is averaging 45% from the 3 point line and Mike G is averaging a whopping 68% being very selective in his 3 point shooting and being wide open. Mike's game is diversified but as a forward he's done it the opposite by going inside/out while Trevor has gone outside/in. Meanwhile Rak, Cooney and Gbinije's production should open up opportunities for Kaleb and Tyler, here's hoping we can take that next step.

Our best team in the 2000's have featured balanced scoring, opponents can't double, triple team nor shade to just one or 2 options. When I say "balanced" that doesn't mean a player will always score big - they just take advantage of opportunities when defenses make decisions. Each players' success helps the opportunities for other teammates to step up -it's up to them to execute

We weren't questioning it because I didn't want to be the guy to bring it up again, but that first-half dunk was yet another to add to the Amazing Tales of Gbinije.

Easy left-hand layup opportunity (maybe even a left-hand dunk), but he decides to go for the "look at me" play and gets packaged by the thin man.

Very frustrating. That was an enjoyable game, but we're in for a lot more close ones and Gbinije has got to quit making bonehead moves that leave points on the floor. We need them.
