Yeah looks like NC State offered him as well... I just saw that NC State offered Kimble, too...

Looks like we have some recruiting battles heating up with them... welcome to the ACC!

I checked out their forum a couple months ago... reminded me of RutgersFans... Real whiney..

I love his hands. No, not in 'that' way.

His QB has a lot of confidence in him. Even when he doesn't get much separation, he catches the ball. Can really pluck it when it's thrown out in front of him.

Could be, at least, an Avant-type possession receiver. Maybe more. Lotsa value in that.

his Q,B.throws a very nice ball, but the kid reminds me of the two receivers who just graduated this year from the U.of Syracuse

Lemon and Sales? Speed is great, but I think we could use another Lemon.

If we land him, I think he's a fantastic WR recruit for this late in the game. We can always use a "hands" possession receiver.

"hands " receivers are more difficult to find than the big speed guys or at least similar in scarcity. Mike Williams was an exception in that he had great hands and plus speed,VanChew had the hands but not a speedster by any means.

Anybody Dave Doeran or NIU is looking at is worth a look, very underated program that probably could have won the BE the last few years, they have been putting out coaches. Mcdonald really hittin hard, I think recruiting is going to have a whole different look under HCSS. I don't think Marrone liked that part of the job.

Raleigh (N.C.) wide receiver Corey Cooper is on the verge of a#Syracuse offer. http://bit.ly/WokDSU

Appears he's a McDonald target carry-over from Arkansas:

Looks like he's got solid hands and decent speed... can catch the over-the-shoulder long ball as well...

R!vals shows he has a lot more offers... Hope he's at 6'1" right now (as opposed to 5'11")

He looks good. A welcome addition if he comes here. Lemon has set the bar and those ecords need to fall. All we need is aQB to help break thoserecords.

Tim Lester is his recruiter but McDonald was in his house a couple of days before he took the job here as OC while working for Bielema. Cooper & Mc have a great relationship so we have that going for us, which is kind of nice. Coop's dad knows all about SU as he was recruited by us at one time. Our competition for this young man consists of NC St, Wake, Arkansas, the Vols and the Hill Billy's we drove back to the mountains in December.

Visiting Arkansas this weekend... hopefully we'll get him for a visit shortly thereafter...

If Winfield commits tomorrow when Shafe visits I think we'll be out of the Cooper race altogether.

The video show him with good hands.Catching the ball up high and or twisted is not an easy thing.

Don't think he'll get an offer unless Winfield says no.

Corey was selected to play in the Semper Fi All-American Bowl. Was once a UL verbal but decided to expand his horizons.

He is a good one.

is it a bird in hand thing or do the decision makers think Winfield is a better player?

Cohen just said on twitter that Cooper did not qualify academically and is going to prep school this year. This really sucks

him only having to attend prep school for 1 semester means he's very close. If that is the case - prep 1 semester - then I'd fully expect him back here in January.

Requirements for going to Arkansas are a wee bit less then getting accepted to Syracuse. If I am correct:

SAT: Ark 930 or greater
SU 1570 or greater w/minimums in each catergory

ACT: Ark 20 or greater
SU 23 or greater (24/28 in math)

Core: Same (16 for both) however SU requires 3 years of a language

Correct me if I am wrong here, but it is significantly harder to meet application requirements at SU. So, some of this is always expected. Hopefully Corey can make up what he needs too in a semester or two at the most and be here next year for spring ball.

Not 100% sure, but when you don't qualify academically, it's not because your grades aren't up to par with those the school requires, but rather what the NCAA requires. Those #'s you rattled off are for the general student body, not athletes. Athletes are held to lower standards, so they only need to meet a minimum GPA and SAT/ACT that the NCAA puts forth, not the school. So the athletic admissions for Arkansas and Syracuse are the same for athletes.

From the NCAA Eligibility page on being eligible to enroll under a full scholarship:
  • Earn at least a 2.3 grade-point average in core courses.
  • Meet an increased sliding-scale standard (for example, an SAT score of 1,000 requires a 2.5 high school core course GPA)
  • Successfully complete 10 of the 16 total required core courses before the start of their senior year in high school. Seven of the 10 courses must be successfully completed in English, math and science.

I may be wrong but i think a perfect SAT is 1600. So either SU only recruits rocket scientist's or your wrong about your SAT score
