Cornell Postgame Thoughts

Oregon is probably a must-win game or else our non-con resume is a joke

I just don't see us winning that one away from the Dome, to be honest.

For what it’s worth, coming into this game Cornell had the 56th best offense in the country (according to kenpom), and was > 1.05 points per possession in every game this year. Their strength has been in their shooting - #14 in eFG% and #2 in the nation shooting from inside the arc (63.7% from 2-pt range coming into the game!)

But tonight, we held them to 0.95 ppp (70 pts in 74 possessions) and just 40% overall from the floor (27% from 3-pt range and 53% from 2-pt range). Our defense was actually decent tonight.
Was surprised and happy how many open 3’s that Cornell missed tonight. I would like to believe it was our defense but I think thankfully they just had a bad night from 3.

me too im surprised about cuffe...his confidence has gone down

started the season ice cold (in a good way)

hard to stay on point when you arent getting any game time

he's a baller...but has been struggling, especially on offense

Yeah, Red has been giving JJ the most minutes on the team to try to get him going, so he has that 2 headed monster running his offense. That's what he wants, and except for a couple halves here and there JJ hasn't been up to it yet.

Cuffe needs to play better, but he's got PG skills, can dunk, block a shot and can hit a 3. He won both of our 3 point shooting contests at "midnight madness". The kid has a good stroke. In time, he will be an important player for us.

basketball is a confidence sport

the team has taken some hits early on and the confidence is not as high as it could be...very clear to see

if they can get some more wins under their belt, it can snowball in a good way, imo

they need that one big win, imo ...LSU kinda was that but not really...

or if they get a few more losses, it can snowball, too

still hard to tell how the rest of the season will go but I understand the pessimism at this point

Were not a good Defensive team, gonna be a problem all year unfortunately
We are an awful defensive team.

It’s pretty obvious why JB stayed away from MOM.

I root for starling the hardest. And the fact he isn’t good makes me so depressed. I’ll never talk down on this kid because it’s really mental with him. He’s so gifted. It’s really a tragedy tbh. I hope he figures it out eventually because I’ll be one of the guys cheering him on the hardest. It just hits me harder cuz I’m 24, he’s 20. We went to same high school. Just a sheety situation he’s in.

I've watched less than 90 seconds of the UConn game, and Danny Hurley should already have 2 technical fouls.

First an outburst from the sideline at a ref about 8 feet away, which may have including cursing. Then
He just walks right out to mid court at a break of play to yap at the refs. How is that not a T?

Well, there’s your problem, right there!

Watching UConn.

Was waiting for an onslaught from them from 3 in the second half and for the most part didn’t happen. I think we lose this game last year so that’s progress.

Cuffe has an opportunity to earn some minutes with JJ struggling. Although if Judah keeps shooting like this maybe letting JJ run point with 3 shooters can get him playing fast and downhill.

Must win on Saturday against Georgetown. At the point where we just need to take it one game at a time and continue to see improvement.
