Cornell Postgame

Before the game I asked for a bigger margin win (20) to see progress from game 1-3, to game 4-5, then to game 6. I think we could have reached my initial target with some better rotation decisions -- so I will say it was another game with arguably positive progress,

Red has to be better though.

Bell might as well pack his sh^t and go someplace he wants to give some type of effort.Body language on bench wouldn’t cut it if I was coaching.
And some on here said he was going to be a lot better because some of the players that left last year were a bad influence on him.

Donnie was terrific tonight. Showed some legit pro moves. Was dominant on the defensive glass and showed some improved defense. The only one who was able to stop him tonight was Red.
Choppa was fantastic as well and I love the confidence he showed when he hit that crucial three-pointer. The idea that he shouldn’t play over Carlos because of his defense is silly because while his defense isn’t good yet, it is probably better than Carlos’.
The freshman will get deserved bouquets tonight, but Lucas Taylor was excellent. That block may have been the most critical play of the game. As long as he is not taking three-pointers, he is a valuable piece.
JJ was awful tonight. Red should show him the film of his defense.
Likewise, Eddie was a net negative. Leaving him out there for so long and benching Donnie was a gift to Cornell and a big reason why they stayed in it.
I never thought he would do it, but I give Red credit for benching Bell. The lack of interest and support Bell showed on the bench was glaring, but I doubt anyone is surprised by that.
Finally, credit Cuffe for being ready to come in instead of sulking and being rusty. He was a help tonight for sure. Respect.

Should have been a 25 point game. Lampkin is cooked physically in game 6. Not ideal. That said Maestro and Davis can take his minutes and that is fine. They’re good players.
At least he got more NIL money out of SU plus his Helecat.

There’s an 8.5 man rotation there if the staff wants to pursue it. But it means cutting big minutes for 2 current starters. And it means sitting a couple starters late if we need defense. Not sure they want to do that.

If bell doesn’t have it that game he has to sit. Carlos just doesn’t have it period. Seems like a good kid and they’re hoping he pulls it together. But they have to admit it was a mistake at some point and move on. He can be a steady presence off the bench Vs killing us every half.

It’s so frustrating. Tons of potential but you can’t coach effort. They’re hoping to maximize that potential but it’s been three years….

The difference between him and Choppa says it all. One guy wants it more and you can see it in the effort. We need more of that
Actually you can coach effort. You demand it. If it’s not shown, you sit.

i was wrong when I said Carlos could play 10-15 a game, he needs to play 0 and be the 5th guard off the bench
